I use my GT86 for the school run several times per week, my kids are 7 and 5 both with child booster seats. One problem is when the kids are to small and don't have legs long enough to put them under the front seat, but it it works very well. 2 adults + 2 kids work aswell, but its a bit cramped behind me if i drive, my wife is shorter so that leaves more room. The rear seats are useless for some people, but for some like me its an enabler to swap a boring daily driver for the 86
I concur. They’re ok for people 5’8” and below. Just like you, I had two small kids in the back, and one of them had to cross their legs. All in all, it’s a very useful car.

I never saw that page when I did mine, guess it's still changing as not officially released yet?! (white, manual for me too).I got a confirmation email, deposit taken and car listed as Purchased when I login to Toyota.co.uk so I'm happy enough it's gone through. Will see what happens come next week!

That car is the basic spec which the UK doesn't get, it has 17" diamond cut wheels, not the matte black 18s the UK cars get (white car above). This'll be my last ever new car so want it to last.

Exciting stuff - congratulations on your order!
I've spent pretty much the entire day - despite having many many chores and things to do - watching GR86 video reviews. I really wish I could pick 'mine' up next week!
Although I've bought a few new cars before, they've always been in stock/unregistered/pre registered etc. I've never ordered a new car and had to wait.
How does one cope, psychologically? I assume watching video reviews all day might not help...

Not sure how I'm going to cope for 3 months, there aren't enough YouTube videos!

The thing that was most often praised by journos about the GT86 was the compliance in the standard suspension. Chris Harris really rated it for UK roads on stock suspension.
It just feels odd to say "I bet Toyota have spent millions just making this thing handle and ride well. But I'm going to chuck some aftermarket suspension on it without even testing the standard ride, because arch gap matters."
Feels like the wrong car to buy if arch gap is the priority...
Patently ridiculous thing to say. Toyota / Subaru may have spent lots (or not a lot, who knows) on designing the suspension, but in doing so they need to meet a multitude of regulations and a mixed use case that includes people who will use the car to go to the shops and back, people who need to regularly drive onto a steeply banked driveway, minimum ride height regulations for various markets etc, and then build it all down to a cost.It just feels odd to say "I bet Toyota have spent millions just making this thing handle and ride well. But I'm going to chuck some aftermarket suspension on it without even testing the standard ride, because arch gap matters."

I would imagine with this being an enthusiast focused forum, most people here will be wanting to use their car for fast road / track. I'm sure the OEM suspension is great but it is inevitable that a good set of coilovers with a user-specified spring rate suited to their preferred usage will be an upgrade for that usage. A good set of coilovers does not also mean compromising ride quality for general road imperfections - any reputable set of coilovers can have spring rates specced to order. If you have coilovers that are stiffer than you'd like, its because you specced them wrong.
The standard suspension will also come with non-adjustable top mounts and inevitably have a road focused camber setting designed to minimise tyre wear. Slightly stiffer springs and dampers and additional negative camber up front will make the vast vast majority of road cars turn in and handle better.
Every single fun-focused car I've had has been put on coilovers and it's been a massive upgrade each and every time, even on cars where the standard suspension setup is pretty well acclaimed and the manufactures actually did spend lots designing it.

Good morning all, I found the Toyota GB GR86 configurator last night:
https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/gr86/build
I assume it's a work in progress as I cannot find how to get to it via the Toyota UK site. I found it when searching for images to help me confirm my colour choice!
I would have put this up earlier, but apparently I'm not allowed to post before 9am cos I'm new
Cheers for the heads up placed my order Manual Electric Bluehttps://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/gr86/build

Just how useless will the rear seats in these be? good enough to take one primary school age child? if so I think i'm going for it, finance is up on my dull daily and the weekend toy mostly sits in the garage as it only has 2 seats
for the record i'll be going black auto
I did 4 up to Spain and back in my GT86. A 4yo and his 5'6" mum sat behind me and my Mrs. They were quite happy and have some amusing pics of them fast asleep while pounding through France.for the record i'll be going black auto
Did need a support vehicle for the luggage however....
From what I’ve read on the rear seats issues - things are slightly tighter on the GR86 compared to the GT86.
Apparently the result of getting the driver 5mm lower means that its no longer feasible for rear seat passengers to get their feet under the seat in front which makes rear legroom that little bit worse.
Am hoping we’ll still be fine as we have a 6 year old and a 4 year old - am close to sacking off a deposit I’ve had on a Lotus Emira for 9 months. The lack of comms from Lotus has been really poor and I’m thinking the GR86 will provide a much cheaper and arguably, just as fun solution to our second car needs.
