RE: Toyota GR86 sells out in 40 minutes
Discussion
In order to get preferential treatment from my dealer and get hold of one of these I was told that I needed to have bought a Prius, Camry, Yaris Cross, and a Hilux in the last year to have any chance of securing one!
This is unfair! I've now missed out on the profit I would have made from flipping one! With customer service like this I might cross the road and buy one of those Cayman RS's instead.

Is it a God given right to make a profit on flipping one? All that's happened is that you're too late and missed the boat, so you're not even a decent flipper and not even that interested in cars like this to have made the order podium. This is unfair! Fair question.
The limited slip diff, and the lightness I guess, meant that the rear end would slide out at very low throttle input.
It meant you could do very controlled fishtailing at low speed on a damp surface.
I've never driven another road car that was like it. Anyone?
But my point was really that another poster said the GR86 would need 250bhp to be fun.
Nonsense.
I'd suggest you try something older; my dad's Mk 1 Cortina GT would probably struggle to make 100bhp, yet you don't need a wet roundabout/damp surface for sideways fun in that! 5.5 inch tyres, plenty of body roll to aid with weight transfer, and no ABS/TCS AIDS to interfere when it starts getting fun The limited slip diff, and the lightness I guess, meant that the rear end would slide out at very low throttle input.

I think there were a few cars from around that era that were like it …. not exactly the same as otherwise they wouldn’t have been another car but the very same car as your pic…..but certainly light weight compared to today’s rwd 4-seater cars and controllable at low speed in the damp - partly down to narrower, less grippy tyres back then with older design suspensionThe limited slip diff, and the lightness I guess, meant that the rear end would slide out at very low throttle input.

Back in the day, my crusty old 1.6 Sierra on 165 section ditchfinders was immense fun on wet roundabouts. The 4 turn rack helped focus the mind There's a lot to be said for modest grip and RWD.

And you missed that you'd needed to have sold each of those vehicles back to the same supplying dealer at below list for them to onward resell at above list to stand any chance. This is unfair! Minor gripe but why does it have to be ordered with black wheels. Can't Toyota at least offer the choice of silver/ gunmetal?? Slightly sporty car doesn't have to mean black wheels.
I think that will be my first mod. I'm not a fan of black alloys, so maybe a bronze colour or something to complement the electric blue bodyGrantstown said:
