The last email said they were dealing with an unprecedented number of orders! How hard can it be to contact the 400 people they're going to have cars for to tell them what's happening?

As it happens the dealer has got a delivery date to them of September 12 which they've let me know about.

Saw my first one on the road this afternoon, a blue one. It was ok but also felt a little bland in a way.
UK spec or Australia?
Australia.

What are the differences between them?

It looked exactly like this

I understand the delay, I don't understand the lack of communication.

Even if they only have bad news to deliver, it will help many of us. They had a lot of goodwill at the start, but with no communication at all they are throwing that goodwill away in the eyes of many.
Supply chains are so unpredictable at the moment they won’t know either when you’re likely to get your car which is probably why they are holding back contact until they know cars are in production or about to go into production.

I've struck lucky, thanks to the pH forum heads up I got an early order in and mines built and on its way.

Lightening must strike twice as suzuki just called and said the jimny they promised me almost a year ago is one of 6 uk cars that just arrived at Bristol docks....

A week ago I got a phone call from Toyota with a delivery date of 'next year'. Today I get an email saying "Great news, the build of your GR86 has just begun". Supply chains seem very unpredictable.

What time was your order?

I got the confirmation email 12 minutes after ordering started, so being told I would have to wait until next year made me think they had a system other than first come first served. Confusing.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. After placing the order, which showed up instantly in my account on the Toyota website, it said the team would be in touch with further instructions.

A few weeks later, I received an email telling me it could take up to 12 weeks for any further details. I logged into my Toyota account yesterday, and the order is now showing as processed, and it clearly states my order has been sent to the factory. And the next stage is the build process.

It’s all gone as I would have expected. We all know there’s supply issues, so I’m not sure what more Toyota could have done?

I placed an order for a 992 in December last year. The only update I’ve had was when I called them in April, because they tend to ignore my emails. And the update was ‘We haven’t got a clue. Call us back in a few months.’ So, compared to Porsche, I’d say Toyota are killing it.

Pretty much any new car which is popular is having similar issues with the.ordering and delivery process. This is not unique to Toyota.

Provided an expected lead time for the car. That's what I'm waiting for and I don't see why they can't do it. Supply chain problems or not they must have a plan at least.

Ordering on the website with an estimated delivery date of August this year. Only to then have to rely on forum speculation fed back from people 15 mins before my own order and it's looking likely mid 2023 for some orders. Possibly later.

That's the problem. If it said mid 2023 on the order page I'd not have bothered. Seriously.

Then vote with your feet and cancel it. The deposit is fully refundable. Personally I think you’d be mad to cancel it, but if you feel so strongly about it, cancel and move on. Clearly this is causing you a great deal of stress.

It looks like a Korean generic sports car to me.

Not bold at all on the styling front.

Choices choices, I can either drive the Toyota Kia or the Yaris uber eats delivery car.
I saw my first one a few days ago and it really is quite bland. It certainly didn't look very 'sharp'.

Reminded me of the current car with the back end of:

I’m not sure what the surprise is it’ looks the same as a GT86 which we’ve probably all seen on a regular basis over the last few years.

Give it 2-3 weeks to get to dealer if it’s like the Yaris although Toyota press office published this recently regarding Goodwood:

“The GR86 made its world dynamic debut at the Festival of Speed in 2021; its return this year coincides with its UK market launch. Unprecedented customer demand saw the entire allocation of vehicles being sold within 90 minutes of going on sale.”

So some cars could be from next week?

I've been told Late Sept 2022 but no movement on the app or the website, still order processing. Some around this have since been told 2023 which is frustrating as some ordered later than me, have cars on boats already. In my situation I don't care when it turns up as I'm not driving much. Everywhere I go is on the Triple or I walk so have no need for a car. Is frustrating there's no new comms though. They did say once a month for updates and next week will be 2mths since ordering.

Are the colours different? I ordered a red Yaris around July 2020 book had been open a couple of months but received one of the earliest cars due to colour/spec combo.
