Just to add, a quick note to say thanks once again to the OP for taking the trouble to put up this quiz every day. I do enjoy it
+1, thanks OPLeins said:
Only just scraped across the line in 5th place! Knew the manufacturer from the second pic, but was only guessing models so lucky to get it at all
As an aside, I see a few people inadvertently giving out the manufacturers’ names on these and potentially spoiling it for others. I tend to go straight to the first page to get the link before I look at any comments
I'm not entirely sure why anyone is pussy-footing around avoiding "spoilers" on threads about quizzes where the clues/answers change on a daily basis? As an aside, I see a few people inadvertently giving out the manufacturers’ names on these and potentially spoiling it for others. Like WORDLE, WORLDLE, etc, you can only play Wednesday's iteration of the quiz on Wednesday. If folk are talking openly about the answer what does it matter? Surely any sane person would play the quiz BEFORE coming onto a discussion thread? By which point it's not possible to "spoil" their enjoyment (or frustration?) with the quiz, it's clues, or the answer.
With movies and TV series, sport, etc I definitely "get" the 'No Spoilers' rule, as folk can record things or watch them "on demand" or via catch-up services and don't want plot reveals before they've had a chance to enjoy it first hand for themselves.
This is especially true of the CARDLE thread here because it's insanely difficult to write about a car photo quiz without either naming the cars or posting the photos of them as used in the quiz. I'll continue to respect those who (illogically, in my opinion) cling to the 'No Spoilers' rule, but it makes no sense to me. Go to the web page, solve the puzzle (or fail to do so), and only then come here to talk about it. Safe in the knowledge that anyone who wants to test themselves would have done likewise, and it's therefore now a safe thread in which to openly discuss the day's photo clues and the answer.
Just my take on it, of course Some people obviously enjoy checking out new posts on this thread, reading about the day's clues (but only in a cryptic, roundabout sort of way), and risk having the quiz spoiled for them BEFORE they head off to the quiz itself...

I understand why you wouldn't understand that though.

Perhaps we're catering for the folk that just discover the thread and don' t know about the webpage yet?

Understand this.I understand why you wouldn't understand that though.
If someone comes to the thread for the first time, and finds today's MCLAREN P1 quiz has been "spoiled" for them because they read the thread before doing the quiz, then that is unlucky. If they then did the same thing on subsequent MCLAREN P1 days, it would be staggeringly stupid behaviour. Therefore each PH user can only possibly have the quiz "ruined" for them the once. Because although I've read a LOT of (imho) really stupid opinions and statements on here, no-one ever seems to admit that they are stupid. Ergo, no-one is going to be affected by "spoilers" because they aren't MCLAREN P1 stupid.
I mean, it's 2347hrs, and by 0001hrs tomorrow there'll be a new car to guess. Typing MCLAREN P1 isn't "spoiling" anything for anyone now, is it?
To extend the logical thinking, there seems to be no CARDLE archive to check back as to which cars appeared on which days. So there's no database with which to compare the cryptic chit-chat on this thread. So someone who "just found this thread" is just going to read through pages and pages of what now amounts to Gobbledygook, people trying to use veiled speech to talk about a car quiz while never naming the actual car. Add to that the fact that people continue to chit-chat about yesterday's car over conversations about today's quiz, and it's a recipe for confusion. Especially as some of the cars are pretty rare and obscure. Like a one-of-it's-kind British racing car which never raced nor entered any kind of production as a road or race car, however limited. Whereas, if someone had the balls to stand up and challenge this illogical nonsense, perhaps we could talk in plain English about the MCLAREN P1 car of the day, and if anyone wanted to add something about a previous day's JAGUAR XJ13 car they could do so with clarity without fogging up the discourse about today's answer.
I understand why you wouldn't understand that though.
