This will sound odd to most of you but whenever I’m a passenger in an SUV or 4x4 I can’t wait to get out. I understand that many people will feel more secure and better protected than in a normal car and like the view from being high up but it doesn’t do it for me. I’ve borrowed a friend’s Macan and relative’s Range Rover for long test runs and more standard stuff like a Kuga and my brother’s Forester but I can’t escape the sensation of lurching around much of the time. I like to be as close to the ground as safely possible, no doubt from many years of driving sports cars, hot hatches and saloons.I don’t know anyone else who feels the same.
The main issue i think you're probably experiencing is that people generally don't load up the suspension before turning in properly.

There's probably a more technical way to describe what i'm on about but, in a tall vehicle, you need to turn in gently at first, allow the weight transfer to load up the suspension and then turn in fully. This avoids the sensation of lurching even if you're cornering quickly at quite extreme roll angles.

The process is even more important when you're trying to thread a series of corners together - you need to pause briefly at the straight ahead position and allow the previous corners roll to settle before transferring the weight over to the other side.

You get away with not bothering n a low and sporty car as there's not much roll to worry about but in something tall on soft springs it makes a huge difference. Years of trying to drive Land Cruisers and Hilux quickly around the North of Scotland have given me plenty of practice...

Got stuffed into the back of an Audi TT once. I'm not claustrophobic, but couldn't wait to get out of the thing.
And DO NOT like being in a car with my BIL driving. He's a bloody liability. Drives like he's on a rally special stage - and he thinks he's a whizz behind the wheel.
That reminds me of a family holiday in France - I was 15/16 at the time and very short for my age (I'm now a very short adult!) and the car that dad had borrowed from a friend was a 206 CC. There were many things wrong with the car specifically, such as the fact it had next to no oil when we picked it up, the AC had packed in, and the exhaust fell off, but being a back seat passenger was uncomfortably tight, and dad's not big by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm normally the driver when I'm in a car so being a passenger is always a bit unusual anyway. But I've been in some cars before where I just want to get out the moment I'm in. I think the worst thing is a smelly car, like farmers cars, if you ever happen to get into one of those. Also not much of a fan of cars where the driver has to clear a space for you because their car is such a mess inside.
Almost any car I’m not driving say for a few exceptions. I just feel awful and unsteady being driven.

A Hindustan Ambassador taxi travelling out of Chennai, north for three hours or so.

Not only is the driving in India pretty frightening, but the petrol fumes in the car meant alternating between opening the windows to be welcomed by searing heat stuck in traffic or having the windows shut and air con working but feeling sick from the petrol fumes in the in the back of the car.

I did not feel at all well after that journey and couldn't wait to escape......

It was a business trip, which Lufthansa had lost my suitcase on the flight over. So, I was dressed in an ill-fitting suit bought for me in downtown Chennai. Quite an experience.....

My own Toyota Verso.

It's uncomfortable, boring, slow because the turbo has had it, smelly because of a heater matrix leak and dirty because the kids smeared stuff all over it.

Plus the previous owner scratched the silver interior plastics all over presumably because they wore massive bangles.

Plus it smokes because of the turbo and presumably could blow up at any time.

Plus, the dash is in the middle for some reason.

Plus, it's s##t.
