“Iconic” since 2018…lol

This and the ID3 have just the worst proportions, both manage to look ungainly from almost every angle.

What a joyless POS. Saying it is better than an ID3 is like saying Chlamydia is better than Gonorrhea.

Born on the 4th July

How have they lost 30mm from the height given it shares the same body, wheel size etc. with the ID3? It doesn't look to have any less arch clearance around the tyres.

Chatted to a Seat Cupra salesman recently. He reckoned you're looking at 15 months' lead time for the Born if you commit today. Committed, indeed. No deals to be had (pretty much like everything else at the moment) so that was that. I think it looks ok; more interesting than an ID3.

I think it's all down to the MEB platform, I've yet to drive a car based on that which is any fun at all unless you are really pressing on.

When you really push it, you do get some feedback and feel, can even tell it's RWD, but it's never what I'd call entertaining. When you're not driving it like you're trying to get away from Satan himself, it's just extremely competent and a bit dull.

Think Mk4 Golf GTi.

Sounds like the Born can't escape those underpinnings either.

Car design has become such a mess. It seems to be all about squeezing in as much pretend aero and aggressive fakery as possible; fake vents, angry creases, plastic everywhere. There is no coherence to the design, no elegance and no style. Nobody would look at this and think "yeah, this will stand the test of time", you know they'll revise it in three years' time and then another three they'll have started from scratch again. Pass.

This was on my radar, but I'll pass.

Lets see what Alpine's R5 is like instead.

Clever spelling mistake there.

Still nicer to breathe in a high street regardless of your global views.

The Cupra hot hatch goes electric - does it work as well in the UK as its predecessors?

No - and does this problem statement need the word "hot" in it...99mph and 7.3 to 60 is not "hot"

Love it - these are definitely ideas worth speaking to the Seat Marketing department about.

Add in mats n' flaps and they will fly out of the showrooms.

Thought the same. I still don't get it. It just seemed totally unnecessary, and does anyone outside the car world even notice? I bet 99% of buyers would still think they've bought a SEAT.

You do realise that car makers have been revising their cars every three years or so for decades, right?

I feel sorry for the engineers who have to make this sort of crap.

What a soul destroying job it must be if you actually have any interest in cars and driving.

May as well give up (on life).
