It was sarcasm, it wasn't meant to be taken literally; fool!
It’s just pathetic to come out with nonsense like that ditto “which adverts would you smash your OLED “? Clearly all fibs.

Given that’s 41% above the highest legal speed in the UK what relevance does it have?

If it gets to 70mph in say 3 seconds that would be a mighty weapon and force any ICE to be deep into ban territory to pass
Might as well limit to 70 then.

I am struggling to see what is sporty about this car. It's a boxy square heavy machine without an impressive 0-60 time nor high top speed nor good dynamics.

Yeah, not feeling any of the cars made on this platform. If I wanted an EV hatchback, I’d be looking at the new Megane that’ll be coming out soon.

No thanks, I'd rather be dead than drive one of these scam unethical vehicles. Electric vehicles are the answer to the question nobody really wanted to ask the question to.

I would rather like an electric vehicle, but because their characteristics suit a particular type of vehicle and because of the convenience of home charging negating needing to visit petrol stations, my reasons are not to save the planet. A car as a commuter tool that will be restful, ready and heated up to go on a cold morning or ready and chilled on a hot one, will have minimal maintenance and should prove pretty stress free to own sounds pretty good to me as a tool for getting from a to b. I don't get the hatred.

I agree entirely. We have an EV as our transport and a couple of other cars for fun when we don't need all the benefits of the EV. Many PH regulars seem to think you've handed over your petrolhead credentials by driving an EV but they make so much sense in so many ways. No they aren't yet all about the fun or thrill of driving but much of real-world motoring is neither fun nor thrilling in the UK.

I had a Cupra 300, and this is worse in every way - how is this progress:

-slower ✅
-heavier ✅
-uglier ✅

You don’t need hyper hatch power to have fun, but this thing is slower 0-62 than many family SUVs. The styling is quite frankly awful, far too high making it look like a crossover.

Nil points

Because it’s electric and on the way to net zero.
VW are not going down the route of hydrogen so it’s EV only.

The good times of driving are over and these with black boxes blocking any speeding I’d the future. Get used to it. And if you think you can carry on using ICE think super ULEZ no parking for ICE duty rises in fuel and petrol going up and up and up making the reality that you will be priced off the road.

Let's be honest, it's just to save a bit of money. No one buys an EV for any other reason.

I’m a bit like on Radio Norfolk.
But clearly you must know the reasons why this is happening and sadly there is very little you can do about it.

“I’m a bit like on Radio Norfolk” 😃

I didn’t actually criticise it for being an EV as such (apart from the weight I guess), rather that it’s pig ugly, and slow.

Imagine in 5 years or so there will be some appealing EV hot hatches - however this ain’t one!

If I were in the market for an EV I’d choose (used) a BMW i3S long range.

It’s all just such rubbish isn’t it… a 2 ton £40k slow box that people will take on lease for 2-3 years doing nowhere near enough miles to cover the carbon used to make the sodding thing…. Next user has another bash until the battery is so shagged whole thing is scrapped and we all go again (first generation Nissan Leaf style).

I’m by no means a Tesla fan but at least they do it properly (if not car quality wise, thought and design wise) better speed and range and from long term accounts better degradation too.

I was hoping for much more from one of the biggest car firms in the world especially as Porsche do it so well as well… and I know they make £100k EVs but surely some of the magic could have come across departments.

Couldn't agree more...what does it tell you when many of the keynote speakers at COP26 were bankers, for example: Larry Fink CEO of Blackrock - they are all invested in the climate change scam. All the predictions for well over fifty years haven't come true. Has there ever been a more impotant time to do your own research?
