2.5 and paddle shift?

WHY???
I have that in my Legacy. It mostly stays in auto but works really well with flappy paddles when you want it to.
Are you serious?

Your paddle shift will have nothing in common with this paddle shift.

I’m glad to see this. Although a 6 speed semi auto doesn’t appeal at all. I loved the mechanical and solid gear change in my Impreza. Doesn’t matter as I’ll never be able to afford it and I’m sure a few that do will just lock it away under cover forever more.

“Colin McRae also joined Prodrive in 1993”

Try 1991
I think the article means he joined the WRC Prodrive team in ‘93. In ‘91, it was still the British Rally Championship.
If we’re going to disregard his British championship and RAC Rally appearances in ‘91 then in ‘92 he was making regular World championship appearances. In 1993 the only difference was he was no longer doing BRC events alongside WRC so he hardly ‘joined’ the team for ‘93. For a lot of people McRae’s association with Subaru started in ‘91 and he certainly made an impact on that year’s World championship finale on the RAC.

So looking forward to seeing this, have approached Prodrive but at 25 units eek , something tells me demand will exceed supply, irrespective of cost! That said, don’t ask, don’t get .. biggrin

Very much so. 18s look very big on the old GC8 cars - anything bigger will look silly.

I don't disagree but they are making their own carbon body panels so can accommodate 19's (with bigge brakes) if they want to, and bowing to modern aesthetics, I have a feeling they might.

In that case, just buy a new Yaris GR/Golf R/Cayman GT4/R35 GTR/Mclaren/911 GT3 or wherever you want to pitch this car based on either where it sat in the market back in the 90's or inevitably the mega pints asking price.

Technically will be bettered by all manner or modern cars. I'm intrigued to see what they do, it's not the spec I'd aim for though in my perfect impreza.

Or they don't care about stirring gears, and get more enjoyment from a paddle shift.

Absolutely; an off at the start of Grizedale, and a fan shouting "C'mon, let's get/ have him out...".

As for the car, I would have thought we'd see a 2L Turbo, and a H Pattern box, like the 97/98 WRCars had. The competition had sequential boxes; Mitsubishi, Toyota with their troublesome 'joystick' control, M-Sport Ford started 1997 with an H box, but introduced a sequential shifter later in the season.

I wonder how many of the 16 still survive?
I remember on ScoobyNet about 12 years ago when import 22Bs used to sell for about £20 to 25k, someone on th RB5 forum used to daily one!

This car was my second UK 22B, the first was stolen and never “officially” recovered. So safe to say 15 exist officially.

You’re bang on with those values. I bought my import from the previous UK owner for £20500 in 2008 and sold it for £21000 in 2010. Standard car in fine fettle on about 48,000 miles I think. It was always a memorable experience to drive. Incredible grip, but with a RWD feel. Super short gearing though. I think 70 mph in top was getting on for 4000 rpm!

I'm surprised at the response on here. A mega rare, carbon bodied, sequential boxed, lightweight, 400bhp 2 door updated Subaru? I don't see the downsides!

Let' s see what they come up with and a price and how that compares to a nice rebuilt 2 door 2l/2.1/2.2/2.35 with a manual box.

It's surely going to be in the hundreds of thousands - I'm guessing at least £200k.

I heard of two others that vanished, so maybe down to 13 now..
