RE: 2022 Toyota GR86 | PH Review
Discussion
From the reviews, it sounds a great car. Shame it only comes with a tin roof.
About the wording of the article... For work, I've been writing some legalese blurb we have to share with Jo Public. I have been using "the first word .co .uk" readability test to monitor how easy it is to read. Out of interest, I checked the readability of this article. The score was 51.59 == Moderately Challenging (50-60). The article on the Alfa Giulia QF (despite the strange subtitle and latin tags) scores 74.63 == Easy (70-80). So... it ain't just us, folks!
Short sentences. Replace long words with shorter or simpler ones. Use active rather than passive tense. Your reader will thank you.
(This comment is 77.16 == Easy )

I liked the article. So many of these have the usual motoring cliches, and this one didn’t. I liked the writer’s effort to express his content in a more inventive way, and the car came across through the text very well for me.
I’m a bit uncomfortable with half the comments mocking or belittling the writer’s work from the safety of a no-reply forum. Just because we can say what we like doesn’t mean we should.
Car sounds brilliant.

What a great idea, let's dumb down our language and run everything through readability software to ensure it is as short and to the point as it can be; although I can see the need for that in some cases, like the one the earlier poster cited. But not on here. Surely not?
Man doesn't want to fight in war. Man has to fight in war. Man finds war and the rules absurd.
Catch-22.
Man chases a whale about. Man dies chasing a whale about.
Moby Dick
White man defends wrongly accused black man.
To Kill a Mockingbird.
They just don't have the same ring to them, do they?
Tongue in cheek as I wrote this post, I didn't find the article particularly well written but it was readable and enjoyable, almost like it was fit for purpose? And LJKS tedious? How very dare you

Blimey that's a tough read !
I gave up on several occasions and only kept going as I really like the car...
A veritable matrimonial bouquet of verbosity in order to state very little of any consequence concerning the subject of discourse in order to fulfil the editorial text length requirement.I gave up on several occasions and only kept going as I really like the car...

I’m astonished to read roughly as many comments criticising the style of writing as comments about the car in question. I too found the article tedious & skipped most of the second half. I’m wondering if the author himself reads our comments. If so, would he care ?
Doubt it very much. I’m not convinced any of the articles here are even proof read before posted now. So many mistakes and typos… Back to the car - I’m interested in seeing this in the real world to see how it compares visually to the GT86.
Does anyone know what tyres this comes with as standard? A big deal was always made that the GT86 came with Prius tyres to help make the back end more slippery at low speeds. I replaced with something with more grip and it transformed the car for road driving. It nah be mentioned in the article but I can’t face trawling through it to find the answer…

A manual supra is going to be what 15k more at least for the 2.0? Nothing gets close to this spec for spec at the 30k new. With a ten year warranty too.
Cheapest 2 litre supra is £17.5K more than than the GR86, no word if the manual will be any cheaper. Also not sure can compare the two, supra only having 2 seats small boot etc.

For sure, I’d have loved the new 3.0 Supra manual in the new Moareki grey colour but it’s going to be double the price, less practical and dare I say it not as much fun. Also not sure can compare the two, supra only having 2 seats small boot etc.

For those who have missed out on the new car, give an old model a try that's had a few small tweaks, especially a different exhaust manifold, up pipe and remap. You won't have the headline power figure of the new car still but the removal of the torque dip makes a hugely improved car to drive. Definitely 1200 quid well spent on a second hand one.
Add in the MTEC shifter springs and Perrin shifter bush for an extra hundred quid and you get a much nicer gearshift than the slightly notchy standard shift.
I've had my BRZ for just coming upto a year and a half, as much as I'd like the new car, and i really want one badly, I'm not sure I could've justified one even if I could get one with doing the above mods and a few more extra. Plus I get the bonus of it being a rarer beast than the GT86.
Here's an obligatory picture for the sake of it

I think that makes it my perfect GT86/BRZ. I would prefer your car to the new car.
Wow, what a bunch of disrespectful people on here completely bashing the writer. No wonder he doesn't take the trolling serious.

Really nice. I really like the GR86 but looks wise I find the GR a bit bland, anonymous. It also appears a bit crushed in the length of the car. In terms of looks I really prefer the GT86. Has much more character.Add in the MTEC shifter springs and Perrin shifter bush for an extra hundred quid and you get a much nicer gearshift than the slightly notchy standard shift.

It’s obviously subjective but I’d say it’s much less bland than the old one, lots more going on! (new BRZ pictured)_ppan said:

It isn't trolling, it's criticism. When half of the posts are about the writing style on almost all of his articles, yet are not on other articles, it says something.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
