That's astonishing, thanks; it looks like it was challenge enough to keep the car straight, let alone manage to set a record that stood for so many years.I shouldn't like this.
I dislike EVs. I can't stand the shifting focus to aero lead down force, especially ground effect.
Yet. I adore this. I'd absolutely bloody love a completely 'chilled out' version for commuting in. Cut out the aero, drop the power by 75%, and give me a little bit of space for a bag and I'd be like a pig in st.
I can just imagine the dozens of different lines one could take going up Bury Hill on my way home from the office...

1000hp (the power output) is ~750 kW.
750 kW for 40 seconds (if it was at full power all the way up) is just over 8 kW hrs, out of the 60 kWh battery.
Assuming average power up the driveway is half of peak, that would be around 4 kWh used per run, so could easily do a dozen runs between charges. I think the intensity and forces involved would probably warrant a tea break after twelve runs for the driver too!
Thanks, no Le Mans, but still has its uses.750 kW for 40 seconds (if it was at full power all the way up) is just over 8 kW hrs, out of the 60 kWh battery.

I think electric power is ideal for sprints and hillclimbs. If you look at the recent results from the Abingdon CARnival sprint, 3rd, 6th and 7th overall went to standard Tesla Model 3s. 1st was an R5 rally car, 2nd was a silhouette Esprit.

I have to say i'm slightly dissapointed by the performance up the hill. It's quick, obvs, but it's also clear the fan is not doing a lot (hence the appearance of an actual wing on the back). Given the (much larger) IDR was designed for Pikes peak, a far longer, wider and smoother hill climb, this little thing should be significantly quicker if the fan was actually doing anything! If it made the claimed 2,000 kg of downforce, on a sub 1,000kg car that means it should be able to pull 3g, which it clearly isn't.
I know Goodwood is bumpy and heavily cambered, but that's the problem with all "underfloor" aero, if it needs a dead flat surface to work, then really, it doesn't work.........

Unless the limitation is not lateral grip capability, but rather vehicle dynamic controllability.I know Goodwood is bumpy and heavily cambered, but that's the problem with all "underfloor" aero, if it needs a dead flat surface to work, then really, it doesn't work.........

So is goodwood back to allowing proper all-out record attempts now?
Has anyone told the F1 teams??
That’s what I was thinking.Has anyone told the F1 teams??
The McLaren in ‘99 looked like it was on the verge of a massive accident on its entire run, but last years VW ID-r looked very ‘planted’.
Would Goodwood ban electric cars from future attempts because they’re so fast?

If this electric turd breaks the record then they need to let some properly fast ICE stuff run in 23.
Why bother, it’ll be beaten eventually by an EV lolGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
