Great thread OP! A lot like last year, your exploits have managed to distract me from the dullness of working at home! Enjoy the rest of your trip and hopefully we'll get some more drunken adventures.
Thanks mate.

Be careful the key cover doesn't disembowel itself like mine did.
Springs and st everywhere!
Took longer to work out how it all went back together! frown
That was for a guitar tuner, typically, when I needed one for the fob the next day it was different.

Nice lineup outside the Munich hotel …I’ve been given the special parking treatment at some hotels in the last few years …a perk of McLaren ownership I guess ..makes up for the niggles !
Yeah it does happen and it's nice. I don't mind if it's buried in some underground car park but somewhere like this where the guys are around all the time it does mean one less thing to think about.

But I don't let them drive it!

I suppose the hotel valet guys are fully covered?

I mean, the guy jumping that Lambo into the gap yesterday was inches from me, what would happen if he backed into it?

I'm sitting right next to the reception having a beer (which is why I've got so much time to write nonsense!).

Every person that checks out argues about the bill!

"I didn't have that and we didn't have that"

And the guys are constantly going "Oh, we will cross that off then"
Either the hotel is trying to rob everybody or complaining about everything is a good strategy. I always just trust them, I've always been too drunk to say with any confidence what I've had.

The guy now is trying to make the hotel pay for his cab to the airport!

Feck. Just went out to get a hoody out of the car and it's not locking again.
Had a beer now (just one but I think Germany is low levels), will have go to McLaren tomorrow.

Right, locked it, ain't going near it now!

After changing the battery again and faffing around holding the fob in a load of different places it worked.
It's well embarrassing because each time I got out I have to get in the car, shut the door and try the internal locking button cos this will sometimes wake the fob up.
But then people stop and start filming because they think I'm going to start it up and drive off!

So I have to clamber out again and stand there fiddling with key while nothing happens. I kept squeezing the fob while pushing the buttons and it finally locked. Got a little cheer from the doormen!
Key fob must have a loose connection.

Got to get it in tomorrow. Should have bought the spare key, idiot.

A fantastic thread! I've been contemplating where to do a driving trip this year and you've swung it to Switzerland.

If you're up for something to do in Munich, I love a walk through the park to watch the surfing:

https://goo.gl/maps/VcHvqoudGa8tRkUQ8

And onwards to my favourite beer garden in the world (I've sampled a few) at the Chinese Tower for a couple of beers:

https://g.page/BiergartenChinesischerTurm?share
Both just over a mile away, thanks. Depending on the car business I'll try to get over there tomorrow.

Out of interest what swung it to Switzerland?

Are you going to see if they have a small screw for the loose grille too? Perhaps ask them to take one off one of the cars in the showroom if they don't have one spare! biggrin
Now this is why I shouldn't have nice things!
I would never of thought of getting that looked at while I was there, that would have occurred to me a week later!

Cheers.

/I should probably go out and check it's still there.

Your photos of the St Bernardino and Juliette passes I think! biggrin

We bought our R8 in 2020 after getting fairly depressed in the various lockdowns and having a "fk it, if not now then when?" moment. 5 days later we drove over to the German / Austrian alps which was interesting as there were various lockdowns coming in and out at the time. Last year we did the Spanish Pyrenees which was amazing - I would have done exactly that again, but I couldn't line the ferries up sensibly for a 9 day trip.

Trip reports with some good German roads I found here if you're bored:

Oh my god mate! What a brilliant thread! Thank you for that, just perfect. I love your style, your pictures, descriptions. All just brilliant.

I would love to have followed along with your German trip at the time because I've been to many of those places too! Unfortunately that was when my missus was ill so I wasn't keeping up with anything.
To do it with your wife and have her share the driving is really the dream.

Great stuff.
For your next one get it in GG, you deserve a bigger audience for such great writing (they used to move mine into 'travels' or something but they leave them here now cos they got sick of my moaning!).

Loved it mate, loved it, made my day.
Get something a bit mad, take the one you love and drive like you don't care, exactly what we should all do before we can't, and that won't be long.
Thank you seefarr.

I think I can say for all of us that it is a genuine pleasure to have someone with such breadth and depth of cultural and technological knowledge on hand to guide us through the wonders of Northern Europe.

Thank you for introducing me to the Michael Jackson memorial. It spurred me to further research and broadened my appreciation of this cultural highlight - https://cherylhoward.com/michael-jackson-memorial-...

Yours vicariously, etc. etc. ;-)
Well Om, I just have this affinity with my destinations, whether it be beer, wine or spirits, I always manage to forge a deep connection with the history, culture and gutters of the places I visit.

It's important for me to pass on these feelings of nausea and unsteadiness to future generations who may also consider travelling to places they won't remember.

It's my gift, if you will.

Got a story about a rich lady but before that.

You know I said about these obvious scam beggars.
So I'm in town now, a bit pissed, and I just passed one.
Same pattern as all of them, clearly fking organised crime.
I walked past, got the phone out, turned round to get this picture for here and in half a second he's already doing this.

He's shouting at me (sorry, I'm going to do an approximation!)
Wah Wah wah!
So I'm going.
Yeah fk you an all.
WAH WAH WAH!
YEAH fk YOU AN ALL!
WAH WAH WAH!!!

Now he gets up. But honestly I don't give a fk now, he's not going to ruin his grift and we both know it. "fk OFF! fk OFF YOU !"
Everybody's looking. He kneels back down.

I wander off cos I'm not stupid, they must have people around.

But answer me this. Why would somebody genuinely starving and pleading for help immediately start threatening somebody taking a pic?

Robbing s.

I'm in a pub across from him now, thieving .

Didn't you say you were veggie?

Good job and hope you get a decent choice..
Not in Germany mate, vegetarian just means pigs with a cucumber strapped to them.

But yeah, I had some spinach dumpling thing and it was lush!

/Very busy now, I can hear the chainsaws.

Hey Damnkraut!

Great name by the way.

This picture is downstairs in the toilet.

This basically says:

Yeah! Bavarian meat is the best! It's healthy and fed on good grass!

While showing cows locked in restrictive, smelly cages.

It ain't a good look Germany.

Thanks for taking that as it was intended DK.

Now, lots of guys walking round like this.

Is this just something the locals do or is it a special occasion thing?
