Great thread Brad. Like many others i've worked my way through most of your previous trips and enjoyed reading about your deeds (and mis-deeds).

Last years was obviously very emotional and a great tribute to you and your partner.

I'd like to ask a question if I may?

Over the various threads you've written statements such as this many times (including a nailed on camera flash in Germany i believe)?

How many speeding tickets have you had over the years?

Well officer. smile

Believe it or not just one, in Germany. It arrived at my house 2 weeks after the "Final date to pay". It had an international bank code for paying it which didn't work. I really didn't want to go back out owing a fine so I took it to my bank.
The lady at the bank spent a full hour trying to pay it and couldn't, the code they had put on it just wasn't valid.
You had to write a letter in German if you wanted to querie or appeal so that was out.
I'm ashamed to say I ignored it after that, never heard anything else.

I am always very careful on highways or main roads, and in towns, I'm not looking to hurt anybody. I only drive ttty in the mountains away from others, if I go over the edge due to my own incompetence I can accept that.

Even in Switzerland, where its all horror stories about being 1 kph over the limit and that you can have a lot of fun if you pick the right spot.
(cue the Swiss police arriving at the hotel and taking my car away!)

I always say this, and at risk of being a broken record, it's not the cameras that will kill it, it's going to be some poisoness little box they force into all cars to monitor us, the systems are already in place.

There isn't a single person in any position of authority or power that wants you to have fun driving any more, they are coming for us.
It's why I keep buying silly cars while I can enjoy them.

Don't wait. Buy something fast (relatively) and cheap that you don't care if it breaks and get out here and ring the Alpine neck.
They've got plans. There's no future for this sort of fun.

Enjoying these updates Brad, me and my partner are planning a road trip for my 30th next July.

Ferry to Holland>Munich>Baden Baden>St.Moritz (San Bernardino Pas, Gotthard Pass, Grimsel Pass, Susten Pass)>Zurich>Luxembourg>Brussels and then home.
All sounds good mate, defo come through the black forest from Baden-Baden.

I've done all those passes except the Gotthard (although I probably have, it's hard to keep track), they are all good. I know it's difficult but try to do them early, especially the St Bernardino, that's one of the best.

Great reading about your exploits, we’ve been through there too and it made me giggle at the time!

Can recommend the Maloja and Bernina passes in case you need another fix or somewhere else to try and upset the Swiss!
Done the Bernina, very good. Don't think I know the Maloja (might do though), I'm leaving Switzerland tomorrow morning (if they let me, still got no docs or passport!) but I'll list that one for the next visit.

Lol!
Come on people!

I know nothing about YouTube but I've put 5 vids up, by far the most boring one (with virtually no driving content) has the word "Lady" in the post, it has 3 times the views of all the others!

Jeezo!

Turn down service.
I've said the last three nights I don't want the turn down service.

Just got in from being pissed in the bar and they've sneaked in and done the turn down service!

Yeah fab, charge me for that!
Cheers all the best!

Man I'm pissed, moving on tomorrow to Italy.
Hopefully pick up my passport.
Otherwise deportation, or just imprisonment.
Do the Swiss even have prisons? Do they lock you up in a bank vault?

Anyway, I keep watching this. Best vid matching music I've ever done.

It seems the thing about the turn down service is you can't, erm, turn it down.

All great stuff sir - hope you had a great night and enjoyed the luxury of having the corner of your sheets folded back and your towelling slippers placed where you'll trip over them.

Hope you get your papiere and don't get chained up in a Swiss bank vault, I hear they're quite dirty inside.

Very good!

Almost the only time in a hotel I've done, is nearly a year I worked in India with a company who put me up in an out of town 5star holiday hotel on the outskirts of Delhi, which was a baptism of fire. Took me about two weeks to get them to stop changing the bedding daily! Daily, for 8+3months. Please no. That and sticking a card in the 'light switch' so the a/c ran all day when I wasn't in. Again, not required thanks.

Okay, I may be the tt in this one, I'll try to be as objective as possible.................................
We're human beings not perfect ones and make mistakes. As a biker (admittedly not of that style you are referring to) it sounds like they were being bellends. Forget them and move on as life is too short.

Looking forward to the Italian bit.

Yeah, I'm good man. I'll ping you an email with an update later smile

In the meantime, I wouldn't say you were the tt in the above story. Sounds like the other person either got a fright or didn't quite grasp how much space and time was available to you, and thought you were being a tt.

Either way, file it in the bin and carry on (but be more mindful of dips in future biggrin )
