You could build something that looks and drives very similar for about £50k. That's £410,000 left over to make it look pretty and add a bit more lightness. I can't wait to see where the money has gone.
Yeah I feel like I'm not understanding the cost of this anymore, a lot of components can be bought and there are enough tuners that could sort it out. There's even a full carbon WRC panels you can get from Ireland for less than £10k last time I checked. Gearbox is a X-shift unit, dash is motec, brakes AP etc.
Not so sure about that. What is a quality low mileage 2 door Type R as a base now, £40,000? So saying you could build the rest of it for £10,000 is somewhat dreaming.

You're being either naive in what it takes to create an OEM-level end or result, or insulting Prodrive with what they have created. I'm sure there is a decent amount of profit in this car, but it will be a long way from what you are imagining.

Just for context, Singer almost went out of business as they weren't making enough from their £1m+ creations.

Another week, another nice but very, very expensive restomod. These things are starting to get like crypto currencies. New ones being released all the time in the expectation of a bigger fool who will buy them for more at some time in the future....

What next - a restomod of the underappreciated Italian design classic, the Morris Ital ?

It's fantastic, but half a million quid for an Impreza?

For that, I'd rather buy a real ex-works one from back in the day.

No gold wheels?
Prodrive P1 & P2 had grey wheels too so following history.

Wonder if they appreciate the irony of doing this to a car renowned as a performance bargain that punched above its weight, to become a mega expensive thing that will probably get battered by most supercars at half the price or less.

It is a minor detail but I really can't get on board with the twin exit exhaust.

Lack of gold wheels means I'm not going to bother ordering one.

The price would also put me off a bit too..
Assuming the price isn’t a complete no then?

I will sort you some gold wheels for one percent of the asking price…., inc valves/tyres and genuine Oxfordshire air.

PayPal friends and family or cash up front? biggrin

Want. Would swap to a gold set of 18 Revolutions and a single exit exhaust.

Well I know three of them are sold to a local. He’s keeping one and the two others are for clients.

Stunning car and would buy one without hesitation if I had the readies.

Has it got a bright switch?
If it hasn’t got a bright switch I’m not interested.

£552,000 roflrofl Oh dear.

To be fair. it looks amazing. It needs smaller wheels though, as they look a bit silly.

Surely just go buy a delivery mileage (apparently there are still some out there) 22B that has the provenance of being the original. It also comes with a manual gearbox.

Looks fabulous.

If my euromillions comes up then count me in - est jackpot of £122m would still leave plenty for a Ariel Nomad, McLaren, etc...
Next up, how much for your own track + rally stage?

There seems to be an ever more yawning gulf between the two tonne EVs and ugly blobs churned out by the established manufacturers and these restomods and re-imaginings.

Not everyone will like them all, but who's not daydreamed of how you'd update one of your favourite old cars using a combination of craftsmanship and new tech.

On the other hand I cannot think of a single new car on sale today that I would actually want, if I had the means.

Its almost like manufacturers have had the soul squeezed out of them by legislation and customer clinics.

Love it, long live this type of thing I can pretend spend by euromilllions on, after that Integrale a few years back, just hope someone does an escort cossie...

If I was being picky though...the 'canopy glass and area above the door line looks a bit big & tall....the windscreen being like a big heeed

Are these new chassis or have they bought up 40 - 50 cars on the quiet?

19 inch rims look too big.
Gold 17's (if they'll fit over the brakes) will look better.

Moot point as I can't afford it.

I'd be keen to know that too. Could you even get this through all manner of safety and emissions regs as a new car these days?

Looks brilliant, although wheels look a bit big, I thought they were 20" at least so was surprised to read 19s.

As someone also mentioned above, it looks weird with a twin exit exhaust, which I'd never even considered as a possibility hehe

Impressive price tag for sure, althoguh disappointingly close to being £555,000 as a cheeky nod, could they not get the maths to quite work out or is there a £3,000 inc VAT option for a set of 555 stickers? scratchchin
