The best performance estate on the market for under £100k. It's beautiful inside and out. A true sports car in estate clothing.
That is why I mentioned the E63AMG . Is the M3 better than one of these?

I suspect it'll be better to drive. Surprisingly, it's quicker around the 'Ring (not that that's especially important).

I was at Goodwood on Saturday and had a sit in this on the BMW stand.

I will concede It looked quite good in the dark purple colour. I hated the bucket seats, although I'm not exactly petite and they are optional.

Interestingly I was then able to sit in and Alpina estate at the Sytner Stand.

Although it was a D3S and not a B3S I was underwhelmed by the interior.

I though Alpine were supposed to use higher grade leather, but the leather felt very ordinary to me and the whole interior felt bland.

The M3 felt much more special inside.

Both had that ridiculously large squishy wheel rim, it feels like they just get bigger and bigger. The wheel of the Giulia Quad I used to own was just perfect to hold and much more delicate.

Alpina's come with standard BMW leather the D/B3 are specced with the same leather as a 320d as standard, it's a myth that has endured as the journalists keep talking about a luxurious interior that they don't have unless you spend 5 figures on the lavalina leather option it's all standard BMW fare.

A standard M3/4 has a much better spec than either a D3 or B3.

I'm a big fan of both M and Alpina.

There's no denying though, if you take a standard 3 series and list every bespoke item on a M3 compared to an Alpina, the M3's list would be MUCH bigger.

We all know where the money goes when buying an Alpina but to the untrained eye, the M3 is significantly more bespoke everywhere.

Yes I think you are right, I have had years of reading journalists say this. I am a big fan of the nicer Aniline or Semi Aniline type leather that is found in some JLR products for example.

I’ve put a deposit down, really looking forward to driving it in one of my many polo shirts.

Did consider a 765LT but thought it was way overpriced.

Awful generic BMW. Front & rear looks pretty horrific.
4 pipes on a six? All it needs is two...

Been happening since the E46 M3. Not really a problem is it.

In all seriousness it is a brilliant 1 car solution for the money.

I just realized it is not available as manual as it is only the Competition version - shame, as a manual I would have been a little tempted (I know in the UK you can’t get a manual at all, but it is/was available in Germany). Still a great car I am sure

I think it really needs 12 pipes - 2 per cylinder.

I would definitely have bought one if it had. And if it had a manual gearbox and no PAS.

Factory starts processing orders from the dealers on 16th September, line starts up mid-November. First UK deliveries I'd expect December.

I don’t understand limiting numbers for these it makes no sense on what will be a very popular model

I doubt it'd be that popular. Willing to bet the standard M4 coupe would outsell it easily, and that's hardly flying out of the showrooms in the grand scheme of things.

I'll bet the SUV X models sell more than this.
