Before all the knuckledraggers appear think of this as the Lotus equivalent to the Cayenne - the car which pretty much saved Porsche remember?
.
And just look at Porsche now. All about the money. .
Nothing special made since the 997. Same garbage as any other manufacturer makes playing on their historical heritage like it makes the correct crop of cars something special.
Except the 991.1 GT2 RS.
Oh yes and the 991.2 GT3.
Oh yes and the 991.2 GT3 RS.
Oh yes and the 992 Turbo S.
Oh yes and the 718 GT4.
Oh yes and the 718 Spyder.
Oh yes and the GT4 RS.
Nothing special at all then.
I'm not normally an SUV man, but I for one love the styling of the new Eletre. It's the first SUV I've seen, other than maybe the Mercedes EQC, that I could see myself in.
We have a deposit down on a V6 manual Emira, so looking forward to that, though imagine we'll have another 12 months to wait.
In the meantime it'll be interesting to see pricing of the Eletre. A two-car Lotus garage may not be out of the question if electric car subsidies remain in place for business leases.

One good thing to emerge from that article is the 1980s brassy gold underlying hue in the Nimbus grey on the Emira so I'm definitely not speccing that colour on mine.
It might a different colour - Titanium? A popular colour on Elises.Very similar to the Blade silver on Mclarens.

Looking at the new range, I'd say they've finally cracked it.
Just a shame it took several decades to get there!
Yes, I know there's an SUV and the Emira doesn't weigh 700kg but that's the modern world.
They should have done this years ago! If it makes Lotus viable for the future, then an electric SUV is a necessary evil.Just a shame it took several decades to get there!

I wonder if they might launch some continuation cars? That would be genuinely exciting
I’m torn as a previous owner of Elise’s & an Exige we won’t see them again. These new machines are a bit of a budget stretch. But the Emira looks great and a good Evora replacement.
Good luck to them though and perhaps when they’re feeling a bit more flushed might look at a light weight modern electric Elise.

I would think it was Nimbus being one of the 6 colours only available on the FE.

Nimbus looks grey but this looks silver Very similar to the Blade silver on Mclarens.
Undercoat grey might be popular but not a great colour to show off a new sports car on a bright yellow show stand.

What a stupid old bus. What sort of mug would buy one of these?
Other markets ? Lotus have told Norway it’s a priority market (have promised towbar options) I’d have one in a heartbeat if the wallet permitted, I’d go so far as to say it’d be virtually depreciation proof for 6 months. It’ll likely fund / subsidize the UK lust for outright sports cars so everyone wins.

Its Nimbus Grey, one of the First Edition launch colours, its basically like a German Racing Silver, it looks absolutely stunning on the stand with the upper black pack roof and yellow calipers. Shadow Grey is the other option which is much darker and isnt present on the stand or at Goodwood. There are yellow (Hethel), Blue (Seneca) and Red (Magma) cars running up the hill, which are the same cars that the journos have been testing and are pre-production modelsUndercoat grey might be popular but not a great colour to show off a new sports car on a bright yellow show stand.
After decades of barely surviving, at last Lotus really seem to be going places.
Lotus as a brand really is a sleeping giant when you look at its back catalogue….the Seven, Elan, Elise, Lotus Cortina, Carlton, and of course the Esprit which became one of the most iconic James Bond cars. If Geeley can do with Lotus what they have done with Volvo, then their future looks very bright. They provide the cash but then leave the experts locally to do what they know best. (Such a shame GM never did this with SAAB)
The first ever Tesla was a Lotus remember……..
