It does sound like a lot of money for something which is essentially just a brand new modified subaru.

How much would it cost to build it yourself? there doesn't seem to be anything or much which is revolutionary, its not a restomod as such either.

I don't know, just sounds a lot. I suppose though it will be well put together and reliable (although i cant see any of them used properly). Unlike a normal modified car thats constantly breaking stuff.

That said its a British company so good luck to them if they can get it.
I see it as you could build one yourself or via a motorsport specialist for say half, try and sell it and would probably lose a lot. Buy this with the Prodrive panache etc and probably make a lot (unless they release a 2nd or 3rd limited run...)

Ok I'll admit I didn't realise they will do anything you want or though I can't see them creating every car totally different. In the video i've seen they've talked about being a more fast road spec and a more serious stripped out spec. If they will genuinley do what Singer do and make each one a bespoke work of art then I stand correct and will eat humble pie.

Even so the amount of hype around this car was HUGE so when Prodrive decided to bring one to Goodwood you'd have thought they would have considered all these points. This should be their flagship one so why show it with daft wheels and a crap interior.
I don't think they've handled the launch perfectly (the comparisons to the 22B are pretty unhelpful in my view), but I don't think it matters that much in a way. The people that are genuinely interested won't read the internet stories and speculate, they'll talk to Prodrive and get the information they want.

So; are we now looking at these P25's being re registered as brand new vehicles for example 2023's etc; or given that all 25 shells were previously road registered vehicles with V5's, I would be keen to learn if they will retain their original VIN / age related number plate?

I could almost see their value and indeed USP further enhanced by being given brand new status (Current Reg plate) by the DVLA and therefore if still retained when driven on the road, would further standout from other Imprezza's

They cannot be registered 2023 as they're just rebuilt cars. It doesn't matter if everything is new, it's still an old shell.
DVLA couldn't be seen to re register these as new as everyone and their dog would want their newly rebuilt vehicle registered with a 'new' plate..

Got it, makes sense. Thanks 👍. It’s a lot of money however you look at it, but I guess those who know when seeing one of these know and those who don’t know, probably wouldn’t care.

I love these kind of cars but that price makes the Amos Futurista Integrale seem like a bargain and that looks so much more special both inside and out.
There is one for sale / best offer on Collecting cars. Interesting, I hadn’t heard of it until today. Probably beyond my budget but looks like a heck of a car. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2020-lancia-de...

Veering slightly off topic for a moment does that mean all classic cars are MOT and Tax exempt no matter how heavily they've been restomodded?

Just been watching the David Lapworth interview , and all it says to me is "emperors new clothes" . Got all the bells and whistles , and the vast majority if not all will be wrapped in cotton wool and never be thrashed to an inch of their life . If you're looking for some car/driving fun I can think of a lot better ways to spunk that sort of money and have multiple amounts of fun . BTW huge Subaru fan/ owner

No, there are rules listed to say what has to remain original to qualify to be mot exempt.

Although on paper this is true, I believe there is an argument that a shell can be refreshed so much such that it is a new component of an entirely new build.

Retro Power seem to have been able to convince the dvla such, when they virtually rebuilt an old Mk1 escort shell from South Africa for Gordon Murray.

That car, although not registered as a Ford Escort once finished (I believe they called it a Retro Power Mk1 or something similar, went through IVA and was given a brand new V5 and current at the time new registration number.

Surely spending half a million on what is basically a mildly tuned Impreza is verging on madness, I would rather spend a fraction of that on something that could taken out for a bit of craic.

Half a million for P25?? I understand it is something special but there are far more special hyper cars you can get for the money!! Lamborghini? Ferrari? McLaren? I lost few hair scratching my head ?? I was a proud owner of P1 not long ago.I sold it for £22000. This is peanuts comparing with P25 and yet P1 is almost similar.Seeing this I kind of regret parting with my P1.
Both are blue with 2 doors, similarity ends there I'm afraid biggrin:

If as Prodrive state the 25 has sold out and there are hundreds of disappointed punters who missed the cut why don't they make some more?

I'm not an Impreza fanboy but I am of the era where now, I have my nostalgic glasses firmly on for viewing pretty much most 90's performance icons and therefore a blue, 2 door Impreza is something special as are many of the other incarnations of Impreza we've seen since their conception back in the good old days.

But, whilst this car looks great... I'm also sat thinking "Half a million quid!" and having watched a few of Torque GT's vlogs on their P1 restoration, I can't but help wonder what sort of price tag their car would command if it were for sale? Or if you commissioned them to do a similar bare shell, nut and bolt rebuild?

Is the P25 more like a £100k car built but you can charge what the hell you want because Prodrive / exclusive / somebody will buy it.... just because they can. So really, there's not £500k worth of car there, as a huge chunk of that is the price for saying you own one? I guess that's the price you pay for exclusivity.
