You need to move into classics - much more fun and highly engaging and entertaining to drive, even on modern roads. You can even tinker with them which is also something I didn’t want to do when I was younger!

My current classics are mainly brisk but my interests are going even older so am considering the next addition.
^^^This.

Anything 21st century is white goods.......

OP can still do what he used to do, and enjoy it, he just needs to bin the Autotrader app, and scan the classic car market instead.

I’m the same even though I have 3 cars including an SLK 55 V8. My go to car is my BMV I3s. Plenty quick enough when I’m in the mood and cheap to run compared to the huge prices of fuel.

The V8 is great but it feeds on 99 Ron fuel, last top up cost £2.12 a litre. Add the cost to the new heavily policed roads, 20mph speed limits and it stops making sense other than for vanity reasons.

I’d also add that the motoring press and automotive YouTubers have taken the gloss of some kf the halo cars of yesteryear.

It used to be fun in the old days without speed cameras, cheaper fuel and quick cars with 150 bhp. Those same cars now have 300+ bhp and there are cameras every where.

The future is not that bright.
