The nose of the 4TC was much longer than the production versions due to the engine being mounted in line - all the regular cars had transverse enginesAshtray83 said:
There are tons of special edition mk2 golfs even an electric one, called the citystromer with a whopping 50km range think there were 100 ish of them
VW made a Mk 1 CitySTROMer as well - 60km range and 25 built (not to be confused with the Elektro Golf which was a prototype only)Elektro Golf

Opel Kadett SuperBoss
SA version of the Astra GTE on steroids. 170BHP (228NM of torque!! which was a N/A per litre record until beaten by the 458) and LSD as standard. In 1990 there was nothing that could touch it. It would take a good decade for anything to come out with both the power and torque of this thing.
Interesting. I always felt the 155hp quoted output of the redtop was rather conservative, they always seems to go rather better than advertised. Was it essentially the same engine?SA version of the Astra GTE on steroids. 170BHP (228NM of torque!! which was a N/A per litre record until beaten by the 458) and LSD as standard. I did drive an Astra with a rally car sourced LSD and it did transform the car, the basic car was very much the starting point for a great rally/race car rather than the finished article in my view, alterations to the suspension and transmission could make a huge difference.

Not really a surprise it was a failure. Although I have somewhat of a hankering after one (although not enough to consider buying one) as it's a car I think would be an ideal contender for a restomod and nose job!

Ultra rare VW Golf "Swallow Tail"
From launch, the line on the rear panel pressing on the Mk 1 dipped from the tail light to the bottom of the number plate. Just a year later, this was changed to a straight line for the rest of production. Show one of these so called early Swallow Tail cars to a Golf geek and they'll be reaching for the tissues.

My uncle had the ordinary Sunbeam Lotus many years ago. 2.2 twin cam 16v weren't they?
Along the same lines and at about the same time iirc there was also the Chevette HS with the 2.3 engine.Heaveho said:
