The Dedra was a saloon, not a hatchback wink

Innocenti 120L

Autobianchi A112 Abarth
Tipo 16v were very highly regarded in their day. Beautiful looking car.

I'm stunned that the Fiat Panda Italia '90 hasn't been mentioned, nor has the Fiat Uno Carte Blanche.

My neighbour had a brand new one of these imported in yellow, Lancia Delta 2 HPE HF 16v turbo (to replace a very eary Delta intergrale). Was a very interesting car. He also had an Alfa 33 16v 4x4 and a Tipo turbo. Very much an Italian hatch fan.

I can’t help but wonder if that’s the same one I saw in last couple of weeks parked in the Eurostar maintenance depot car park in east London. Can’t imagine there’s many around.
I remember back in the early 2000s there were only a handful in the UK, at the time he had the only yellow one. All I know now is he owns a divorce and many surf boards

Fiat Punto GT
Fiat Punto GTs we're really overlooked in their day but were nice looking and fairly tuneable.

I've said this before but why Fiat were so short sighted not to go balls out with the 170 bhp 1.8, LSD equipped Abarth they'd prototyped I'll never know.

Actually, it's cos they were didn't have the balls and were happy to be also rans.

Citroen AX GTI must have been fairly rare? I never saw one in the wild, I only learned they existed when I bought the Haynes Manual for my GT.

90’s Suzuki Swift GTI too. Boyfriend of a work colleague had one and I seem to recall it being the only one I’d ever seen.

A friend had an Abarth version of a non-turbo Fiat Uno. Not sure if this was a genuine factory edition or a regular 60S which had been modified. It had Abarth badges and koni shocks and was an absolute riot on the local B roads. I’m sure the carb wasn’t stock either!

Citroen C2 Loeb edition. Never knew they existed till I valeted one a few weeks ago. You could buy a C4 in this spec too. Made about 700 of them

Honda Civic GTI - Mk3 I think - mid 80s.

My mum had one, in fact the photo here that Google threw up is her exact one as I recognise the reg, or what you can see of it. The owner has put new alloys on and removed the GTI sticker than ran across the bottom of the doors.

She sold it 15+ years ago now to a guy in Kent. Mechanically it was okay but the rust lurking underneath was terrible. He knew they were rare and put the hours in sorting it out.

We had one of those as well, they were the orignal 'piggy' nosed Visas! You could also get the Citroen LNA with the flat twin on the continent

Volvo 360 glt a bit of a forgotten rarity, not really aimed at the demographic was it!!
My first car was ab E reg one of those , in no way back then did I realise it was supposed to be sporty at all, super heavy steering, crazily long throw fear stick, wrote it off backwards off a damp roundabout on the a3 into a stream after a day at Goodwood (horses) bless it, £200 well spent I guess as no damage done to me

I love the easily controllable sideways nonchalance old volvos have. They aren't sporty, you're right, but they can get from a to b surprisingly quickly.

Mk1 Renault Clio Baccara.
It was a luxury edition with auto, leather and walnut capping interior no less!

It cost more than the 16v and almost as much as the iconic Williams with gold wheels and lusty engine.

My mum bought one brand new back in the 90s…
Madness, but I’m sure the sales guy in the dealership chuckled when processing the order hehe

Were they as fragile as the Intergrale?
