That taxi is in the video.
The pedestrian he passes behind is the same pedestrian that the cyclist tries to pass behind.
I was only jesting The pedestrian he passes behind is the same pedestrian that the cyclist tries to pass behind.
And that the taxi was in the same carriageway as a pedestrian who he passed behind?
And that the cyclist was trying to do exactly the same thing, ie timing it so he would pass behind the pedestrian?
And yet the cyclist was broadly condemned, but the taxi driver was not?

So you agree that the taxi in the screenshot was in the same video?

Objectively, those bike and taxi scenarios are different. The second taxi driver was too hasty approaching the crossing, where the pedestrian was just one step from the island. But that's rather a moot point. Take another look at the video to understand what I mean. And that the taxi was in the same carriageway as a pedestrian who he passed behind?

Maybe the pedestrian had a history of near misses with bikes but not with taxis.
Who knows
Who knows
Would that make the cyclist's close pass any worse than the taxi's close pass?

(Is the taxi as close)
Clearly not.. because the pedestrian stopped and turned around on the crossing..Edited by Mave on Monday 8th August 21:12

The cyclist and motorist were both too hasty approaching the junction.
The cyclist and motorist both intended to go over the crossing whilst the pedestrian was still on it.
The cyclist and motorist both tried to time it so that they passed behind the pedestrian.
Why are they objectively different scenarios?
A much slower vehicle that is encouraged to “take the primary” as often as deemed necessary if they alone discern it to be appropriate, armed with head cams, always ready to upload footage to the authorities of “close passes” or anything else they don’t find palatable, is not generally going to engender warm friendly and harmonious feelings amongst other road users in a conflict free environment, especially when breaking the rules themselves, cycling through red lights and up the inside of left turning trucks without number plates, road tax or even any other means of identification. The sooner Darwinism takes its toll on these militant fools the better in my view. I absolutely despise them. Absolute s quite honestly.

Yes, all cyclists are “militant fools”, “taking the primary” wearing cameras Maybe some just like a bike ride occasionally and endeavour to enjoy that safely, whilst trying their utmost to not get in the way more than is absolutely necessary.
Would you call me a to my face, just because I happen to occasionally ride a bicycle ?
Thought not, step away from the Daily Mail, lay off the Sherry and think before you post as you just made yourself look a little strange.

Is there any point in this thread, beyond hosting the usual tribal nonsense. The haters vs. the defenders.
It seems to have descended to the lowest level.
Is anything going to be accomplished?
Is anyone going to change their view?
You have a valid point...It seems to have descended to the lowest level.

But I still love these cycling threads. They expose all the tts. And demonstrate why there is such division between motorists and some cyclists.
What a shame we cannot work together towards the common good. Surely our objectives cannot be so different. But with such entrenched attitudes, there appears to be little hope

Bigot, they’re not insults. They’re facts.
Disastrous by name, Disastrous by nature, Disastrous by sense Anyway, back on topic, I went for a cycle yesterday and was struck by how much consideration cars showed me. I’ve recently got back into road riding and it’s definitely better than it was last time I was out.
Maybe the UK is becoming more cyclist-aware…?

At least we have something to work with now...Does other road users include pedestrians and horses as well as other vehicles?

Christ, that is utterly feeble. I feel a wee bit sorry for you tbh. Forget I said anything - you’re doing great and you’ve absolutely got this thread nailed. Great job!
