RE: The best used supercars to buy right now
Discussion
Me and one of my mates were at TOTB at Elvington the other week, and there was a standard 720S going down the runway/drag strip, and we both said how slow it looked! It just shows how that event spoils you for fast cars I reckon(I've seen some mega fast stuff there over the years).
Never ever did I think that there would come a time when I'd describe a McLaren 720S as slow! Once the 720S is tuned up/modded...then I would imagine that it will be quick then though.

Can a supercar have 4 seats/a back row of seats? The Gransport, Cerbera, 911 and GTR all do. I don’t think they qualify personally.
I agree. I own a Gransport, and its a GT car, really. Edited by F20CN16 on Sunday 14th August 07:58
Beautiful and a real event, for sure, but no supercar despite the supercar engine.

You do have to appreciate that they have cars running up to 2000bhp there though. So a standard McLaren 720S will look slow in that company.
Despite the fact that it runs 9s at the strip, on road-legal tyres. It’s a monstrously fast road car in standard trim. If you want to beat it with something standard, then it’s a 765LT, SF90, or a million-quid hypercar special. Sandpit Steve said:

I'm not trying to mock it, it just didn't look as quick as I was expecting it to be though. He will tune it though, and I'm excited to see where he goes with it.

Yes and I agree that it is clearly a fast car no doubt as standard, but I know of the owner of it and he usually drives really tuned up cars, so I think that in my head I was just expecting it to be much quicker than it was that's all.

Oh, definitely interested in how far you can push it. I'm not trying to mock it, it just didn't look as quick as I was expecting it to be though. He will tune it though, and I'm excited to see where he goes with it.
The Americans have got them into the 8s with 950 WHP, but they seem more difficult to tune than the mad turbo Lambos out there. Probably somewhat more reliable though.

Re the Nissan GTR and the nitrogen discussion, I thought it was because the nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules and therefore less likely to escape and cause Tyre deflation.?
Anyhoo
I’d happily have any of the car on the (non-definitive list) although I’m sure that arguments can be made for the inclusion of many others
Of the list proffered I’d probably go for the GTR or 911 and run the risk of being classed as predictable….

Nitrogen is inert, and doesn’t change pressure with temperature as much as air does. They use it routinely for aeroplane tyres, which experience wide variations of temperature and outside pressure, because it leads to fewer tyre failures. Anyhoo
