Remapped VAG stuff in poor condition especially bad for this.
It's a scene thing dude!You wouldn't understand, grandad.
In reality across the automotive world there are many areas of specialist interest which others just don't appreciate to the same degree as someone into a particular scene. I'd argue that the majority of enthusiasts across the spectrum see something out of the ordinary and have the view that it's 'not my thing but whatever floats your particular boat then on you go and good luck.'
When that particular 'scene' results in a situation where something becomes dangerous, anti social or just plain illegal then those vehicles should IMHO not be on the road.

But no doubt you'll just carry on with the obvious baiting which as always is obvious. Otherwise, two word answer, second word "Off!"

Spotted an E46 diesel of some description in my neighborhood over the weekend. The thing sounded like a truck. Very odd.
Saw an E90 yesterday that was the same. Big cloud of black smoke as it pulled away, but it had a very odd, deep sound to it. Much as I hate to admit it, not an entirely unpleasant one either.Had a massive Darkside Developments graphic across the back window.

The highlighting of the incorrect use of the term 'poor condition' made things very clear about the general aim point of the post. But the rest of it?

Maybe should have ignored it. That's three of you now, any more silly boy specimens for the PH pile on? This is becoming amusing.
By the way not one of you has commented on the part which suggested when a vehicle or its use is dangerous, anti social or illegal then that is not acceptable. Lack of engagement on that specific in itself possibly suggests something not very complimentary about attitudes.

No denial there, sometimes you bite, say something and go on to stand your corner, and sometimes you just mutter under your breath something like "Oh feck right off you pillock" and then just ignore it and don't post

I don't like "reeky" diesels, they sound ste, it looks ste, and they tend to be owned by throbbers. I'd never own one personally.Maybe should have ignored it. That's three of you now, any more silly boy specimens for the PH pile on? This is becoming amusing.

I do enjoy other antisocial automotive shenanigans, so you're correct in assuming I'm an arse.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of cars leaving a ferocious trail of billowing filth behind them?
Slightly knackered vans and 3.5t tippers doing it are to be somewhat expected. But I can't remember ever seeing, or being stuck behind, as many cars doing it as I have in the last six months or so. Primarily seems to be mid-late 00's German fare, usually in a bit of a state.
Just seems strange to me how even with clean air at a higher priority than ever, and rightly so, there's still so many people around unintentionally rolling coal.

The mk1 fabia doesn’t have a DPF so will kick out smoke regardless of maintenance/mods. Don’t imagine tuning it and removing EGR/etc will help much, but they’re quite smoky anyway.
That's not true, a Fabia would still have to pass a smoke test. The issue was all too often cheap genetic remaps that are available on such cars. With diesel tunes it's very easy to get more power just by over fueling and getting loads of exhaust soot.
