Gonna have to expand the X6 subjective, arbitrary tasteless judgment to all so-called “coupe” SUVs.
They’re a baffling genre until one remembers that some people primarily buy cars that are functional, some that are great to drive and others buy one that…….says something about the driver. The so-called coupe-SUV is (in my own, subjective opinion) designed to say: “Look the fk at me, I’m awesome and you’re a halfwit. Get the fk out of my way, I’m IMPORTANT”. I do know a few people who drive these and I would not choose to socialise with them. They all conform to my half baked stereotype.
I mean, look at these munters. They haven’t been bought for beauty and they’re less functional than the models on which they’re based. Case closed, m’Lud.
I like those all, and I couldn't give a damn what people think. I drive a mini. Sorry to burst said stereotype They’re a baffling genre until one remembers that some people primarily buy cars that are functional, some that are great to drive and others buy one that…….says something about the driver. Me too. I think it might be one of those cars that looks better in certain colours. The ones I've seen have been black/dark blue and looked ok IMHO. The Rotrex Kid said:
Saw this X6 today. Frozen black ‘vermillion edition’
A snip at £84k.
Had a crystal gear knob thing, the sales guy said the grille lights up as well. Not sure if that’s right.
The crystal gear knob is truly hideous, it’s as if there’s some kind of secret competition to see who can design the chavviest interior. Mercedes had already done the hideous plastic ‘aluminium’ and the lighting setup from a gaming PC - this is BMWs response. A snip at £84k.

Good point on interiors. I recently tested a two year old E-class estate in AMG flavour. The I terior was awful. Truly awful. Coloured LED lighting, plastic "metal" and chintz everywhere. It felt flimsy and garish.
I have a 2012 CLS and it is lovely inside, with leather, wood and real metal everywhere. I also have a 1994 E class, and the interior, whilst lacking any tech, is just elegant, even today.
What on earth happened?

They changed their design based upon the next generation of buyers, and it's worked, as they have managed to keep selling lots of cars.
