Sorry that my responses have seemingly got you so irate. I’ve lived in Edinburgh for 30 years, so I know the areas, know the hotel, and was sharing my perspective based on knowledge of the city - it doesn’t feel like there’s a particular hatred of SUVs. I did however misinterpret your comment on the city centre and didn’t realise that the “chauffeur”/shuttle service was in and out of the city. I hope you enjoy your stay.

I don't think there is a general hatred, there is however a current spate of SUVs being targeted by eco-nutters. I seldom take the car in Edinburgh city centre, especially for the years since they gridlocked the city with tram works followed by the St James Qtr - but the prospect of being stuck with a car with all 4 tyres let down, would be enough to remove any doubt.
