The big value of Carplay or Android Auto is that all car satnavs suck to a greater or lesser extent, and increasingly so as the car ages and the mobile software and hardware continue to evolve. That might become less of an issue as over-the-air software updates become more commonplace.
For comment - my car has over-the-air updates, weekly it would seem.

No CarPlay = no purchase.
Really? Am I the only person that doesn't like Apple CarPlay?

My new car has it, the dealer automatically selected it for me as he was showing me round the car, I went with it as everyone raves about it, but much as I'm fully in the Apple ecosystem, and huge fan of every one of their products, I just don't like CarPlay, primarily form an aesthetic perspective. My car's OEM Pivi system is way superior IMO.

Yep. It's the same with some of the new Volvos: they couldn't tell me when/if it would be available.

OTA updates are great and remove one of the bugbears of having to update maps, etc. in 'fixed' OEM satnavs, but unlike you, I do like CarPlay and being able to use my preferred mapping/driving app when I get in the car. I'm so far into the Apple ecosystem that using anything else grates.

Aesthetically it could indeed do with an aesthetic refresh but given it has to also scale across devices, it's pretty good. Maybe in the next iteration it'll improve?

I went to look at one of these. For those questioning the lack of bootspace - I totally agree! The space in the rear seats is huge. I've never seen as much leg room in a car, I don't think. I'd have much preferred them to lose a few inches of legroom (it'd still be huge) and provide a bigger boot.

I'm not sure it'll work well as a family car with the current setup.

The EX90 probably has what I'm looking for, but it's £100k list price and appears to have been missing for about 2.5 years. At least production on the P3 has started now.
