By the sounds of it, this “halo model” costs at least 2-3 times more than this one, which is laughable

This is all getting a bit silly, but if they can sell them then I suppose crack on BMW

As an aside, I just wish they’d production built the tii concept from 2007

High-revving 4-cyl turbo (c.260hp?) and a fair amount of weight saving through carbon fibre, etc. Styling maybe not to everyone’s tastes admittedly, but for me a lot more cohesive than this New CSL v2.0
I agree that is much more appealing. But you could DIY something like that for relatively little investment.

That said, I'd sooner base it on a 125i with the N52. Simple remap to '30i and oplenty of engine to be getting on with.
biggrin already got one of them and done that

Only 4 RHD ones coming to the UK, all of which are sold. Odd that, as the price hasn't been announced yet.

Gosh that’s loud visually. Cracking powertrain I’ve heard by those who have the M4. Manual welcome. The whole lightweighting thing in 1.8-2 tonne cars seems silly. Garish when viewed alongside the E9

The concept looked so right from every angle. This is the complete opposite.

The paint work and decals should suit every wealthy and wannabe chav. The car? Love it. The paint work? Hideous and vulgar.

I wonder if people from BMW buy them to keep and therefore artificially raising the value later on (allegedly, in my head).

Quite like that, but it’d have to have had the N52 for me though.
They didn’t go with the 4 cylinder as they thought it would be a hard sell.

My favourite BMWs are all 4 cyl!

I don’t get the tiny production run thing. If the purpose of the company is to sell cars to make money, why not make a few thousand of these, fulfill the market demand and enjoy the profit?

50 is a stupidly small number for a car that could sell in droves even at €150k+ or maybe even €200k.

I like that, having the new front and rear ends makes it much easier on the eye and I like the fat arches and rear spoiler.

I mostly associate BMWs with straight sixes for some reason, and they've made some cracking straight sixes over the years I reckon.

I know some people are going to love this but I think it looks terrible. I'm sure it's a great drive and very quick but it just looks big heavy and bloated. Like a middle aged chubby chap in a branded tracksuit.
All the best people look like chubby middle-aged men.

Like it though it has gone full nostalgia pastiche. But still cannot understand how a proper M cr can weigh just shy of 2 tons and still be a true performance car. 506 (impressive) BHP with 1500kgs sounds like much more fun. Oh well, they will all be sold.

I’m actually glad they’re only making 50, it’s utterly offensive.

Compared to the concept from a few years back, it’s worse than a Chinese knock off.

They may have been right about 4s being a hard sell. The E9* 320Si wasn't exactly a big seller when a 330i was more powerful and far less likely to suffer major problems!

My favorite BMWs have all been N/A petrol straight 6s. I took my Z4M out this morning and got up towards the 8K red line. cloud9

Turbos just seem to be a poor imitation.

I went with a PH friend in his M1 to the European M1 Club weekend in Switzerland this summer - there were 4 or 5 of the AHG cars there and some of them are stunning in the flesh - some have dubious colours though laugh The ///M striped cars like that one work best and are quite lovely as an interim step to a full ProCar M1.

Turbos are impressive because of the performance that they offer for me. Most of the NA engined BMWs I've had have felt a touch flat at times in my experience because beemers mostly tend to carry a fair bit of weight. So I like that the turbos help to hide their weight better.

Whilst the S55 engine in the M4 doesn't sound all that great, it does spin around to its redline with a lot of enthusiasm still I reckon. Plus you don't get that limp feeling that you can get at low revs with many NA engines as well. The NA engine in my 370Z only really comes alive(in terms of any real shove) above 5500rpm for example.

The S54 engine in the Z4M did feel peppy at lower revs I thought, whereas the S65 V8 in the M3 could feel quite limp at low revs in comparison though because of the extra weight it was carrying.
