How daft. Plug-in only I guess, so no self charging/re-gen etc.
As others have said, it won't get plugged in. It's just for low emissions and high/unrealistic mpg figures.
Plug in only? What?As others have said, it won't get plugged in. It's just for low emissions and high/unrealistic mpg figures.
Plug ins work the same as "self charging" hybrids when the pack is "empty". And in fact they're BETTER because the bigger battery has more power capability for charge and discharge, so can recover more energy, and deploy more power (so run EV only for longer and/or at higher speeds).
I drove a Kuga PHEV for 10 miles, which started from an empty battery. It did 5.9 miles of that journey engine off.
They do look better in the flesh but the front end just doesn’t seem to gel with the rest of the car especially when the the likes of the new Astra looks so much better on the same platform.
Price is optimistic but then new car prices have gone bonkers in recent years. Gone are the days of getting a edcent spec hatchback brand new for around £15k.
Mileage is a bit disappointing. I get 40mpg out of my pug and that has 270bhp so I suppose the weight is a big reason for that.

Saw a lot of these in France in the Summer. were they released there earlier or just more interest?,....imo they look great especially in the green.
We saw a few too - I have to say I was quite a fan. Edited by Flanners on Thursday 8th December 18:50

But then French cars, in France have a superb ability to look great - a mate had a new grand scenic/mini espace thing which I actually liked the look of!

Did they never make the R? If not wtf not?!
TX.
Cost, it would've cost similar to the RS3, they just couldn't afford the losses as few would've bought it. I would have.TX.

3.6kW charging is fine for a PHEV if you have a PHEV usage profile.
I have a Cupra Leon PHEV (so direct competitor for this really). It gets charged at working during the day, and at home overnight (or just one of those in spring/summer as I can manage the 20 mile round trip on a full charge). Even a full charge at work would be full by lunch time.
It's rarely worth using public charging as once the price is north of about 50p/kWh it's cheaper to use petrol.
Best thing this time of year is having it pre-heat for departure every morning, getting into a nice warm and defrosted car.
Had the same feature on my 2007 CLK it's a lovely bonus.I have a Cupra Leon PHEV (so direct competitor for this really). I have the 508 version as a company car. Charge it at night but the range is less than half of the supposed 24 miles in winter and even in summer the best you can get is 18 miles…. not sure how they get away with the overstated range. The infotainment is dreadful as is the Peugeot app which look the same in the 308. Apart from the hybrid bit and the electronics it is not a bad car.
