Porsche 911 (991.2) Carrera T | Spotted

Any Carrera T is a pretty lovely 911, especially with a manual; this one has 540hp, too...

The first few Porsche 992 Carrera Ts are now making their way to customers, and while a little under the radar, the return of the T is very good news. The previous 991-era car, the first T in decades, proved that a modern 911 could be entertaining without requiring you to spend a six-figure sum. It was almost as usable as any other Carrera, yet just that bit more engaging where it counted to make the premium feel worthwhile. As the 992 has, inevitably, refined the 911 experience once more, so the T treatment once again appeals.

This Carrera T appears to be a great example of the previous car, with money spent by the original owner on adding desirable options like the Miami Blue paint, 918 carbon seats and ceramic brakes. The Techart bodykit may not be to all tastes but, again, it won’t have come cheap. Look at the tartan seat inserts and 917-style gearknob, too - this is a really smartly specced 911. Somebody knew what they were doing here, and it’s been done very well.

But there’s far more to this T than even meets the eye. About 170hp more, in fact. More money has been spent on it with the good folk at Litchfield, which had a T as its demonstrator car to show off the possibilities for turbo Carrera 911s. PH drove it back in 2020, and the praise was effusive to say the least, the 911’s ability to contain 600hp - while retaining great throttle response and an appetite for revs - proving pretty persuasive. This one isn’t quite as potent, with a claimed 540hp, but it’s likely to have lots of the good bits (including GTS turbos) as the ECU tune only boosts 370hp to 460hp. The suspension was also upgraded while at Litchfield, helping to keep a lid on the additional performance. If not the final bill, of course - modifying Porsches often makes for a fantastic car, but it doesn't come cheap.

That said, what’s true for all modified cars remains true for Porsches: it’s a lot more affordable to buy a car that someone else has already tweaked than embark on the work yourself. The Carrera T was £85,576 new, before you start adding up thousands required for upgraded seats, brakes and paint. Then there’s the Litchfield work to think about. And everything that’s happened to used cars over the past few years. £92,500 makes it the most expensive T out there, but also the highest spec by a margin - as ever, it really depends what you’re after.

Some questioned the logic of a dollop more performance on the least powerful 911, a car intended to celebrate a mere 370hp. That thinking is easy to understand, and there are plenty of untouched Ts out there. But given how keen every reviewer was on the Litchfield upgrades, it isn’t hard to see why the original owner took the plunge - and why it might now intrigue a new buyer.

Certainly, it’s hard to imagine building a car like this for £92,500 now when it’s hard to get in a T for less than £75,000. It still has less than 30,000 miles on it and the pictures speak for themselves when it comes to the condition. Plus, if you think of this like a cut-price 911 Sport Classic - within 10hp, also with a seven-speed manual and retro details - then it’s almost a Porsche bargain. And you don’t see those every day.

I like the paint and the interior choices, but the graphics no and why spend money on a perfectly good car when you could do this to an older Turbo or modify a GT3? Isn’t a T supposed to be perfectly good as it is?

That’s rather lovely. Does it have nose lift though? If not then it’s going to really struggle with speed bumps.

The 991 generation is a weird era for the 911. In came turbo charging and it took a rather dramatic swerve away from being a sports car and more towards being a sports/GT car. I still prefer the purity of the 997 in looks and the overall analogue nature of the cars. Maybe that’s just me looking back with rose tinted spectacles.

As others have said, defeats the point of a T. If you want more power, get a more powerful 911. It is hardly as if there isn’t plenty of choice, without also the depreciation, as modified cars don’t do well here.

What he said. Twice.
I’m a bit confused by the Kingsley badge on the glovebox too

Fair play to the owner for building pretty much the car they wanted and using it accordingly. It is quite individual.
It seems not that far off a gt3 touring that has been created except with turboed engine instead. And probably an easier and cheaper way of getting the end product.
I quite like it - except the body kit - nice colour, nice interior.
But would have bought a 997 gt3 (possibly rs) for the money it cost hehe

Looking at the pics again it’s only the rear bumper I don’t like. The front and sides are ok. If I had the cash I’d certainly consider it.

90K seems a lot for a 0-60 of 4.5 seconds ! and looks like that.....yuck that interior is hideous and the graphic are just awful ruining this car
i am all for modifying and individual cars but stray to far from the main road and its a difficult sell !

To me it’s a very, very nice and well done, thought out individual car and as such that’s the sort of car you’ve got to really want, as has been said, maybe a tough sell.

I love it. The best "modern" non-GT Porsche there is IMO.

540bhp will make it fly. A cracking daily though I would personally want back seats

I think if you're "into" modified cars, fill yer boots as it were. Think my thoughts mirror others though and am scratching my head about why you'd want a big power 911 T?

Think I'd be the scaredy cat and go for a 911 GTS RWD if I was looking for the power bump.

Nothing against modded cars but at this price point it seems like the manufacturer has enough options to meet your needs.

I have been following the 991T for a while, but would want to drive both this and 992T before deciding.

I am committed to a manual, but can’t decide between “normal” seats or buckets.

Anyone out there had experience of both and can give a considered opinion?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Pricing doesn't makes sense to me. But that applies to most porsche products. Porsche has managed to persuade/corner a significant part of the market that 2nd hand worth more than factory fresh copying rolex. Thanks but not for me.

Buckets look and feel much more special and I find buckets the most comfortable seats I’ve had.

Love the looks of this especially the colour!

My next car is most likely going to be a 911 and I’d take this car in a few years except for the fact I’d want PDK.

lovely combo, although the rear I would like it more with exhaust styling ala GT3 more close to another and a bit bigger.

The base 991 T was 85k and did 0-60 in 4.5 with 370bhp

This example is almost 200bhp up on that so I doubt that it still takes 4.5 seconds to get to 60.

I'm not sure about the quality of the body kit - at the front and on the sides the edges seem to stick out. But worse, in my opinion, are the side skirts that at the front start below the line of the bottom of the front wings and the doors.

The colour isn't to my taste, however the silver wheels look absolutely gorgeous though. I bet this shifts with 540bhp too.
