One for the vapers, what is it with choosing the most vile flavours that linger in the air, amd why they have to make massive plumes of vape?
You tend to find a flavour that resonates with your taste buds. Mine is Aniseed. Tobacco flavours IME are grim as fk. About as authentic as a Ralf Loreen rip off. RE your second point, you take what the market provides. I recently had to replace my device, and whilst I've historically had low vapour devices, this one does plume somewhat more. I do try to keep it out of others airways, but am guilty on occasions of blowing vape out of the drivers window. Apparently I deserve shooting for this rolleyes

Shouldn't Vauxhalls and Vapers be discussed in the 'council' thread rather than starting a fresh thread?

I've owned 3 Vauxhalls, all of them sheds. Almost loved them because they were sh!t. I doubt any of them could be described as having any positive attributes, even when new.

To be fair though, award for most dull car owned goes to the 2010 Golf I owned for about 2 months before palming off on the sister in law.

When I used to hire cars fairly frequently I was once given an Astra, around 2017. Just painfully boring and underwhelming in every respect. It felt like Milton Keynes on wheels, like no one involved in the making of it had any imagination whatsoever, and the chief designer was probably one bad day away from suicide. After that I always put a note on my booking "not an Astra, please". The Insignia I had one weekend was bearable though, maybe because it was red.

Vauxhall's are just cars. If you want A Car, a vauxhall will do the job, probably. Not much else to say about them. Not for me, but they have a purpose and for many people they'll be exactly what's wanted - A Car. You can probably say that about most cars though... come to think of it, the Hyundai i30 I hired in 2012 to move house in probably had even less personality...

It is German, Opel is German, it's probably more German than the usual suspects, that's the funny thing with the Insignia, it's even built in Germany.

I drive a 2008 Vectra, this gets people frothing at the mouth this car...bought it last year as a stop gap, work hack, do-it-all car for £1k and I actually can't fault it, at all - and I really wanted to hate it!

He's only right in backing up the snobbism (possible made up word) that is prevalent on PH.

Agreed, it was a clever line. I didn't want to reply earlier as ph has a habit of becoming a pile-on follow the leader.

Driven many Vauxhalls, but apart from the vx220 and Monaco/VXR8, they haven’t released a decent car since the 90’s IMO. They gave us the Lotus Carlton, Astra GTE’s, Cavalier GSi’s, Manta GTEs, etc, now we just get a barrage of naff hatchbacks or soulless re-badged Buicks.

Whilst likely not including you, the Vauxhall and Vaping thing tend to be associated with a particular image; a ratty looking Vauxhall model with a ttty looking gobste owner.

Both owner and their chosen steed are often seen emitting out large quantities of vape cloud, matched only by the large clouds of smoke coming from the exhaust. Said exhaust smoke usually being caused by a DPF delete or HGF.

Again the owner of the Vauxhall will park their Vauxshed on the street outside their council house, usally on the pavement or dogst laden communal grass strip outside 'their' house. Said street usually littered with st cars, rusty white vans and wheelie bins.

Council estate is served well by a local shop selling cheap beer, fags, vapes, grab bag sweets, crisps and lots of energy drinks.

If you don't like being tarred with that brush then stop vaping in the Vaux and step away from the stereotyped image as it exists for a reason.

Finally Snobbism is actually a word.

Vapes and Vauxhalls. A thread looking for support to defend them both. biglaugh

I’m afraid I’m not on board with either. In the 90’s, Vauxhall made some cool cars, but nowadays they’re just a dull manufacturer churning out mediocre/crap cars. As for vaping, you just look like a whopper doing it. I see grown adults clinging to a battery operated machine as if it’s life support, blowing great plumes of smoke out. Like the Vauxhalls of today, it’s just not a cool look.

I smoked In the 90’s, gave up mind 2000’s (best thing I did) and times and views have changed for the better. Seeing people stand huddled outside while they puff away in the rain makes me wonder why they even bother. It’s a nasty habit!

Blowing great plumes of smoke out of your Insignia window = not cool

Vapes: The other thing when you have a large group of people vaping is the desperate social interaction between them. Half of them will have run out of vape juice and another quarter will have low batteries. Much like bumming a fag in the olden days, vapists have to plead for vape juice and/or a spare battery. The King of the Vapists is the person with the extra large 250ml bottle of juice and spare batteries.

What is really grim about vapists is that if they have no juice/battery juice, they will ask for a fellow vapist for a draw off their pipe. Hygiene goes out of the window. I bet you could run a study showing a strong correlation between oral diseases and shared vapes.

I would make the best vapist ever - my OCD would mean I have a huge supply of juice and a special battery container for spares/used.

Well timed thread this for me.

Currently looking at having to replace my trusty old V70 as my family is outgrowing it (and it’s coming towards end of life).

I need 7 seats. The market value between similar S-Maxs and Zafira Tourers is hard to ignore. Yes, the S-Max is applauded for its car like handling. But that’s about all it does over the Vauxhall, yet on the used market they demand about 20-25% more.
For the family bus that will be full of dirty football boots, bikes and general child grime, I don’t see the point in spending more.

I hesitated for a while as I too have been guilty of brand snobbery against Vx, but from an objective point of view, I now can’t look past them. I for one am quite grateful for the brand perception as it’s going to save me a bucket of cash.

I will soon be a man who is mocked on PH as I drive a Zafira Tourer. Apparently I will be angry and miserable due to vehicle. (Nothing could be further from the truth!).

And as an ex smoker, yes I vape. I shall delete my account asap getmecoat

I quite like the new Mokkas. Much nicer than the tragic originals.

Still the preserve of the underclass though, dropping their spawn off at the school in their pyjamas.

Not fussed about Vauxhalls, owned a mighty Nova SR and it was ok. Company Carlton was ok, Insignia l…was ok.

Smoking/vaping is another topic. I’m not sure why I should have to inhale the byproduct of your pleasure, I’m sure if I was to piss on your trousers after a beer you’d be quite cross indeed. It’s a disgusting habit. I suppose at least with vapes there’s less littering? It’s so unbelievably scummy to throw a fag end out the window, marks the individual out as a total bellend.

In short. Drove what you want. But keep your stty cloud to yourself smile

Smoking and vaping I find repugnant but each to their own, just be a bit more considerate about the noxious, nauseous fumes you are putting out. Vauxhalls, no problem with them as a marque, I'm just not keen on bad cars regardless who makes them...and although I enjoy some of his output, Jeremy Clarkson has never influenced me.
