Well I would say that the XM has done one thing very successfully indeed: it has nudged the E36 M3 out of the spot for “least loved M Car” - something I’m rather thankful for wink

Any excuse for a photo of the old girl

True - I had an E36 M3, loved it!
The E36 M3 is one of my all time favourite M3's for sure! cloud9

smile In reality it just says I drive what I want and buy what I like, just as anyone should be entitled to do. I said this earlier I couldn't care less what anyone thinks about my car choice and nor do I care what others drive. Reading this thread, people like me are in a minority.
Totally agree with you.

Oh good, another "look at all my money" car. Great if wealth-signalling is your thing, but a bit predictable and boring.

If you open your eyes and look at the pictures, you won't have to guess. On second thoughts, you'd better not...

Just drive this to the next UBS/CS shareholder meeting and park it, like those things get “parked”.

If the E36 M3 is in earth orbit, the others are between there and and Venus. The XM is somewhere out by Pluto and Charon.

Absolutely fking hideous.

You tee'd it up, couldn't resist.

This car is straight from Uranus. Shame it didn't stay there.

What a sad excuse of a BMW this is... then again the BMW we know and love from the early 2000s is long gone.

Surely an April 1st joke leaked too early?

With that snout, it truly is the car manifestation of a particularly ugly pig.

Expect to see them parked near a beach where their budgie-smuggler wearing, thick gold chained obese owner is parading about lecherously.

They Don't Care What You Think!
As I already posted before, the British motoring enthusiast is a niche within a niche within a niche of their very tightly defined prospect for future survival.
And an awkward one at that- demanding right hand drive and an unfortunate suspension set up to cater for the appalling roads.

I’m not sure why the penny still hasn’t dropped yet amongst the locals as to why BMW are so goppingly wrong and awful these days.
Jus to clarify, I am from Belgium and I also think this car is completely idiotic.

My favourite BMW will remain the Z8.

Cheers,
F

I feel the same. The hysterics about a car that no one really has to buy if they don't like it sounds a bit more than just expressing an "opinion". The poster mentioning his perception of cars as only a way to display wealth is probably closer to some of the real motivations for the the hatred I reckon.

Leaving aside the looks, image and micro penis (hehe) stuff for a minute, having just read the full review it is generally pretty scathing.

Fair play to the PH reviewer for giving it a kicking rather than fawning over it which for some reason is what I expected.

The horrible (subjective blah blah) styling is always going to be the headline with a pig like this, but as it turns out it’s a pretty crap car too.

As always though, if you like it don’t let me stop you. Free country etc!

Will we ever see BMW produce something remotely as elegant and beautiful as the Z8 again? Not likely if exhibit A is anything to go by. I'm sure it could be argued a lot of this is somewhat down to external forces; how many genuinely pretty cars have come out of the 20's so far?

Chris Harris just released a good Top Gear article on special edition cars. I wonder how much over 150k people will splash on options for these things to massage their fragile ego's.
