Those lines are hazard warning lines.

Even if they were shorter, they'd just be centre markings, but that doesn't mean traffic can't go over them if it needs to. There's no "my side of the road" - it's a just a road.

To be fair, I had a very similar incident on a narrowish lane near home driving wife's Tiguan. Another SUV coming the other way clashed mirrors and I was shocked how it could have happened as the road seemed plenty wide enougjh so I hadn't slowed. The other driver stopped and said she'd swerved around a pothole at the side of the road!

Looks like the lorry slowed more than you did, and tried to keep as far over to their own side as possible. You didn't slow as much as you could've done, that will definitely go 50/50.

To close this one up, the company admitted fault and it got resolved, slowly, but agreeably

that's good. Can't remember the whole thread but I'm sure it was full of the usual BS about you having no chance and how stupid you are to be thinking about fighting anything and how you should have just accepted whatever.
