I love muscle cars and the V8 rumble they make. I would love a Challenger and 400bhp would be enough for me. This is a fine send off, quite ludicrous thumbup

Pistonheads has come a long way. I'm sad to hear so many on this particular thread rubbishing this car and comparing to a Tesla. It kind of misses the point.

Well I'm glad they both exist and that we have choices but I wouldn't want to deny someone just because they don't like the same flavour as me.
Lately, PH seems to have been invaded by people who don't actually like cars. Weird really as it's predominantly a car enthusiasts website. Guess some people have a lot of time on their hands, I wouldn't bother signing up to and trolling a website for something I had no interest in.

Well this one certainly seems to divide opinion according to wether one supports child mining labour and nuclear power or perhaps prefers posing on the Kings Road in Londidnium or prefers giving it the beans on B roads and or the 'ring,

Being a proud Boomer, like many my age I fell in love with many vehicles I saw at the cinema and on tv, for some it is a DB5 or DBS V8, highland green Mustang or the #53 Beetle, for others it is the Batmobile or SPV, and yet others an ADO 16 1100 estate or even Delorean for me it was a white Challenger in the film Vanishing Point that was the number one must have movie car.

If I had a couple of hundred k cash burning holes in my pockets I would certainly go for this bonkers piece of kit and take it to Santa Pod and the Brighton Speed trials, but I don't so when I retire I will settle for a slightly less powerful version that perhaps handles corners a little better.

Whatever yon point of view, thanks for having me on board.

same, they aren't percieved in the same way as they used to be - I was smoking outside a bar and a loud golf R drove past, there was a group of girls next to me who were literally laughing afterwards and continued to chat about how silly loud cars and how people have them are desperate for attention
I perceive people who smoke in the same way.

Why is every performance car thread so triggering for EV nut jobs? Everyone knows an EV is fast, and the reasons why. Nobody cares. Celebrate this for what it is and stop ruining every thread on what used to be a forum for people to enthuse about cars.

Sorry, but that's bks as the sheer volume of posts by, er, car enthusiasts every day shows. I get a bit fed up of the EV V ICE 'debate', as if its a choice one has to make, some binary them and us. It's pretty easy to admire both. I LOVE this mega muscle car. I also like the new 500e abarth and electric mini convertible. Oh, and I'm a car enthusiast. Owned over 200 over the years and enjoyed every single one in one way or another.

I have cars with loud exhausts too, I am simply saying that I think the general public dislike loud cars more than ever which makes you feel more self concious

I think for the general public performance cars are deemed as socially unacceptable, and always have been. Previously maybe envy, now probably because of moronic youtubers encouraging the 'send it' mentality, which just pisses everyone off. I also think that there is a massive difference between a hatchback with a megaphone mapped to pop and fart its way down the high street and a genuinely exotic barely silenced engine. Even then, a lot of these are swept up in pieces on the Kings Road when someone decides to have an impromptu street race...for the socials.

But, fk what people think. If you are sensible and not trying to be irritating there will always be some who won't be happy. They would find misery in almost everything, all the time. Everyone is a long time dead and cars of any nature will soon probably be living in the same graveyard. It would just be nice, for once, if when a ridiculously daft car made by a mainstream manufacturer a. didn't receive inane comments about how easy it is to do (because 1000hp is the opposite of easy to mass produce, warranty, support, convince miserable board members to manufacture) and b. EV's are brought up as somehow the enlightened choice instead? They are not, for many reasons and for a lot of us (including me) hold zero interest whatsoever. It would be nice to enjoy a thread about a 1025HP Challenger without this absolute OT manure.

As for kids, wonderful little entitled stbags that they are..... (whose life priorities mostly entail being busy on tiktok liking a cat which has been dipped in custard, whilst wondering if they can have another sleepover and rinse their parents for another Domino's?).......whatever a bunch of them think (about a grown up, with a job, paying his/her taxes, likely supporting a few of the little darlings themselves)...... is irrelevant. smile

In the meantime enjoy that car!

Came across one of the original movie cars in a bodyshop in the West Midlands a couple of months ago, currently being restored to as it was when used 'on set' so be interesting to see whether or not it starts popping up at the odd car show... Owner had found it in the states and brought it over here to restore, think he also owns a Charger that was used in Bullitt at some point.

Generally OK in North America but with the notable exception that in any crash/car chase/crime involving certain performance brands the brand is always named...

Ferrari crash/Porsche nailed for speeding/BMW accident etc.

There is never a mention of a Ford collision with a Mazda for instance.

My comment was tongue in cheek, I don't mind EV's, I think they have their place but I along with quite a few it seems are getting a bit fed up of the EV brigade turning up in almost every new ICE performance car article to tell us how we are all dinosaurs and that a Tesla is 0.3 seconds quicker to 60. It's boring and irrelevant to the discussion as far as I am concerned as a person interested in a 1000bhp Challenger isn't going to be persuaded that they'd be better off in a Tesla.
