This car is not about going round corners its not the right car for Europe with all its corners and tight city street. But the one night the one day were you are on a M road or a big wide open straight road and you sink the foot and let it be it will come alive it will shake it will whine and make booming noise out the exhaust and head towards the horizon in a straight line putting the biggest smile on your face when the car comes alive.

Yes an M car will destroy it on a bendy road but that what they are made for B roads Track work but this car is made for the American track that just so happens to be 1/4 mile long.

American Muscle cars are life Alfa`s They only give you a few days of there brilliance and that`s enough for you to fall in love with it.

As Dom Toretto said "I live my life a quarter mile at a time." and this is the car do that.

Since its such a loud car can i have mine it in a loud color please.

Nothing is pointless, everything has a purpose.

I like it, I wouldn't want to own it but for a long weekender somewhere with wide and straight roads it would be so much fun.

If this was a woman it would be....

Are people actually comparing these to Tesla's roflrofl

Every fking thread that features a fast ICE car and the Tesla brigade are out in force. I think some people are on the wrong forum, it's called PISTONheads.

Sad demise of a fantastic engine. Any red blooded petrolhead will lament when engines like the Hemi are all gone.

I'd love one of these, I'd have no interest in an EV muscle car at all. Not sure what Dodge's USP will be when they get rid of those V8's tbh as then it will just be a crappy, rebodied Tesla. wink

Amusing that next to an article on how it has taken Lamourghini 3 motors and umpteen drive modes to harness 1015 BHP at cost of who knows how many £,000's is one about an American car generating 1025 bhp for under $100,000....
And I would rather have the Lamboghini every day of the week over this Yank thing.
fair enough, personally, I would rather have this then any Lambo post Countach

it's a fast ice car but needs e85 to get the full amount of hp and it'll be interesting to see if it can get anywhere near the stated 1/4 mile time

it took nearly a year or so for someone to match the original demons 1/4 mile time (despite lots of the americans using them on drag strips), most were running in the low 10's.

What are you going to do about it?

The only thing this car is better at than the Tesla, is polluting the environment.

I'd take it on a drag strip for sts and giggles and laugh my head off as it span at the line, not try to match some perfect 1/4 mile time done by professionals. I used to worry about stats when I was younger but now it's just boring to me. 900bhp on normal fuel and a 10 second'ish quarter mile would be more than adequate considering very few factory tuned cars will get anywhere near that. I've been to a fair few drag strip days in my time, you'd still be in the top 1% of road legal cars in the UK, at any given drag day with those times.

More importantly, I'd giggle every time I put my foot down in 3rd gear at the noise, vibration and acceleration.

No, it is also a whole lot cooler.

I have a lot of respect for Tesla engineering, and don't write them off just because their boss is a total asshole. However, the fact is that a four-door saloon that is to the non-expert eye indistinguishable from the company car of the accountant of a midlands SME can never, ever, under no circumstances will ever be cool. For a start, it has too many doors. For a second, it looks responsible and as someone once pointed out, responsibility is never cool.

If a Tesla were a famous actor, it would be Tom Cruise; a nice guy, thoughtful, huge star, guaranteed box office success. If the Charger were a famous actor it'd be Russell Crowe; lairy, loud and likely to end up getting you arrested after a night on the town. Who'd you rather go to the pub with? (there is no correct answer btw)

First of all, it does NOT do 60mph in 1.66s. the 1-ft roll out removes the first 0.2s from the timing. Second, it was done on a prepared drag strip with an extremely sticky substance sprayed on it - so sticky it could rip the bottom of your soles off your shoes.

lastly it runs with very questionable tires. And on a regular road like those drag races on airfields, times will be vastly different. The last 840hp Demon could not possibly beat a BMW M5.

These are the tires for the new Demon

same, they aren't percieved in the same way as they used to be - I was smoking outside a bar and a loud golf R drove past, there was a group of girls next to me who were literally laughing afterwards and continued to chat about how silly loud cars and how people have them are desperate for attention

Sorry, but that's not a change; girls would always laugh at loud "normal" cars (sorry to all fans of Max Power). Are you saying said girls would have responded differently to an EV? Or would they have just ignored it rather than making fun? Is that better?

And more to the point, does your interest in cars extend beyond impressing girls?

That's where the "boom" comes from. Notwithstanding the majority on here seem to be Gen-X (age 42-57), not Boomers.

Perfect. Exactly what I need for my daily workout to Tesco Express a stones throw from where I reside.

Utterly pointless.
