That's the one from The Late Brake Show episode isn't it? Running a different engine although I can't for the life of me remember what it is?Lots of info here;

What a beautiful thing this could be, if they could be built at home for Lister Bell Stratos money I'd be tempted, so many ways you could build this is doesn't need to be stratospheric cost wise, anything north of 125k and I'd ant to be off to Alfaholics for what they are serving ...

What engine is the V6 going to be? The original was 3/4 of a Rover V8 and wasn't used in anything else (as far as I know except for the XJ220 engine being a developed from it). The MST mk1 and mk2 use Duratec or Millington 4 cylinders (Millington don't do a V6).
Ford Duratec V6? Jaguar AJ30 V6 (as used in the MX5 Rocketeer conversion)?
The original engine was also used in the Group C2 Ecosse racers that won their class in the WSCFord Duratec V6? Jaguar AJ30 V6 (as used in the MX5 Rocketeer conversion)?

This is what I remember, trips to Brands Hatch to watch the spectacle. The acceleration figures were quite something for the day.
Yep, accelerated quicker than a F1 car to 100mph... on gravel.I very much doubt it's true, all 4 wheels would just be kicking up gravel for the first 2 seconds.

...I think a turbo version of the Audi V6 tuned to around 500 - 550 bhp would make it the car it should always have been (but could never be in period as it went down the N/A route).
On the contrary, the beautiful sounding and high revving V6 is what made the 6R4 iconic, wanting a turbo in one is all sorts of wrong.Olivera said:

Definitely this. By most accounts it wasn’t the best handling car; if you backed off in a corner on the limit it would spin like a top, keeping your foot in was really the only option. As for performance, it was considerably less powerful than all other top running Group B cars. The sound was its most memorable and best feature. Would I have an original, if I had the funds… hell yes!

Saw plenty on the stages in period , and later in RallyCross. Bizarre juxtaposition of hideous looks and an engine note that sounded more like a Ferrari than most Ferraris did , and matching the sublime song of the Dino 246 (Tipo Phil Hill, not Tony Curtis )
Exactly this. My favourite Ferrari noise and my favourite Austin Rover noise!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
