Dear MST, please can I have one like this:

And

One like this:

One was at Race Retro a few years ago. Excuse the Maxi Turbo blocking the view!

That isn't a 6R4 though. Real 6R4s have been selling for rather more!
No it's a replica built on a different engine and drivetrain to compete in modern events. So even more similar to the OP than a real one.

I bet most will be msa log booked and will compete and create their own pedigree over time.

My one will be either a computer vision rep or British racing green with the big MG stickers and road trim…..

The guy that builds and races RC cars ‘odditified’ built his own from scratch and runs 600hp Audi lump.
But will these MST cars be compliant for an MSA log book ? Andy Burton wasn't allowed one so what makes these different ?

Their MK1 Escorts start at £85k I think. 6R4 is going to be a mid mounted V6 and 4wd, so I’d guess at £100k plus.
Autocar quoting £295K

It would make more sense to put in a turbocharged four pot.
In a car famous for having a V6 and being NA?

Let’s take off the rose coloured glasses.
The 6R4 was a donkey in its day and it will be a glorified donkey now
Very successful car. John Price in particular. John Bogie. John Indri. All kicked the ar**s of ex-WRC cars.

Yess... except it sounded gorgeous in Gollop's turbo 6R4 . And many 80s turbo V6s - at least in racing - sounded fabulous , few more than the 85/ 86 Ligier with Renault power, which so tingled my ears at Silverstone and Brands . Come to think of it , it was another Ligier, the Mugen V10 of 1996 which perforated my eardrum at Silverstone ...
To be fair, the JV6 in the XJ220 was rather more than just a V64V with turbochargers.

Whitstable Will's bi-turbo 6R4 was almost exactly that with a 2.3 litre downsize, from memory. A great car.

What's the point?

They're hideously ugly but made sense in the day and they were raced in period giving them credibility.

This is just an exercise in extracting money from the over monied.
Precisely.
We had one. It was a very competitive rallycar, requiring constant maintenance for fear of expensive breakdown. Huge fun to drive on the road, with the engine noise stupidly loud (crash hat or ear defenders) and the banging and crashing on every pothole. The dogbox was awkward unless you were on stage adrenaline (hehe), BUT it was a 6R4. 2.5 litres of bespoke quadcam in the back and an icon.
I can't see the attraction of this thing. Rather have something like Ian Oddie's Ford Turbo lookalike.

Burton's car was spaceframed (which is expressly not permitted). This like a 6R4, isn't

I would say the most famous 6r4 was will gollops, it had bigger audiences than F1 on TV and was very much turbo charged.

It’s a replica for racing, so whatever makes cheap reliable horsepower and complies with the regs.

lot of work went into that I guess, no more boxed fenders but all smoothed out, I guess a bit more aerodynamic, not bad, but a bit un 6R4

Built by Dave Appleby when he worked with Tony Pond under the Tony Pond Racing banner , hence the name TPR4100 . Not many built iirc

I used to see it regularly when I was competing at Gurston Down. Built/prepared to a very high standard and a pretty special machine. That was a while ago, although it looks like it's still owned by Tim Painter and Andy Fraser - https://shedmotorsport.co.uk/the-cars-in-our-shed/

For me the bark of that 6R4 V6 was a big part of the appeal, sort of a more gruff Stratos so hope they can replicate that with the newer engine option.
