The whole Khan ULEZ thing is a mess. And hopefully will collapse and be binned, that both Khan and ULEZ wink
It is a mess.
No it isn't a mess. Not remotely.

If your vehicle pre-dates Euro 4 petrol or Euro 6 diesel, it's subject to the charge. Simple.

If your vehicle is older than that and you want to gain an exemption from ULEZ, you'll need to do some leg work. Not a mess.

Expecting Toyota to provide something free about a 23 year-old car and its emissions - unrealistic. Not a mess.
Well it's a mess for me. But thanks for your helpful input.

No, it isn't a mess. You're trying to get an exemption for a non-compliant car. To do that you need a certificate of conformity from the manufacturer that proves the car meets the emissions criteria. You know how to get that.

If you're not sure what your car's emissions are, that is not a mess. It just means you need to do some more research.

None of the above has anything to do with "Khan's ULEZ" being a mess.

It's a mess FOR ME. I never mentioned Khan. I'm not trying to get an exemption for a non-compliant car, I'm trying to prove my car is compliant because I believe it is. I'd rather not have to pay £75 quid to find out I'm wrong, though. That's a bit of a mess FOR ME. No, it's not the end of the world, yes I do know how to sort it out if I want to. In the meantime I'll drive my compliant Nissan Leaf into London when I need to go there.

Go and have a beer, it's Friday, stop trying to be a smart arse on the internet. Yes, I'll be going to have a beer shortly myself.

Have a nice weekend.

Perhaps not directly related, but I've been looking at getting another car and my default search has VED at £30 or less for a runabout. Every now and then something pops up that shouldn't be that low, but it usually turns out to be an imported car. Seems to be a loop hole, or perhaps it's an Autotrader thing that isn't picking up the correct VED rate?

Not sure I'd want to chance it, but I'm not sure how I'd check as it opens up some slightly more interesting cars if it is correct? I'll try to find some examples later and post back.
