£102k wow!!
I’ve always loved the rear end of these… but not at these prices
What did expect a 2 seater Jaguar with a 575bhp 5 litre V8 engine to cost in 2023? What other rivals are there that can easily be bought over here? I’ve always loved the rear end of these… but not at these prices

10 years. Wow.
That rear 3/4 view is so good. Such a great looking and usually...sounding car.
Jag currently seems to be lurching somewhat of late, needing a solid financial base and a better model line up.
Of the 6 cars on its website 3 are for the chop and the other 3 are SUV's.
It seems to have got into making its own engines just as the EV market started to grow as well.

As the owner of a V8 FType, this is heartbreaking that Jaguar are stopping production. The way it looks, and the way it sounds - I couldn't give two hoots what the infotainment system is like, thats completely missing the point in my opinion.
I cannot imagine ever selling the car, we absolutely love it !

And to an extent here we hit the problem There is a system that the Auto industry uses that used to be called JATO but I've not checked in years, that allows you to put in the spec of your car and a few alternatives and based on how you assign 'value' is designed to show if you are better or worse value based on your criteria.
It is a very good system!
But it is flawed (or was) by the need to reflect what are often the opinions of those above who allow a view to become default. So the classic mistake was to put a load of factors into the system, put in a competitors and say 'look, we are x% better so are good value in comparison because we are the best car company in the world and everyone wants our cars.' Now no one wants to contradict the boss and tell them the brand is lost and the styling lousy or reputation poor, so the pricing is put in place based on criteria but fail to take enough account of brand, reputation, the human side to car purchasing. You could put a factor in the system, but it required you to explain your decision to the higher ups!
Put simply, only the very smallest group of consumers know enough to sit down with two brochures and complete their own version of the JATO analysis to show the conclusion that the analytics system reaches, so instead we react irrationally, acting as much with our hearts as with our heads.
So yes the Jag is good value against the Porsche, but rightly or wrongly would not most people take the Porsche?
Oh yes, JATO and I are very good "friends"... What you described is nothing else than comparative analysis assigning a numerical value to every data point (spec) on a car, and then comparing the scores of your selected cars. I think there were almost 1,000 data points recorded per vehicle. The problem with this method, which you already mentioned, is the human factor. Human beings are local, egocentric, narrow-minded BIGOTS. And the purchase of cars is often based on passion, which throws all that rational analysis out of the window. It is a very good system!

I do like the F-Type, a bit of a bucket list car for me especially a v8 manual. Just got to be patient and wait for the prices to fall. £100k though? It's nice but I'm not sure it's THAT nice.
Think they only offered the manual with the supercharged V6… That's my toys out of the pram then.

Yeah, sorry to be the bearer of bad news! For V8s, these days I think it’s basically only the Mustang left. Aston were putting a manual in the Vantage, but believe that was ditched a couple of years back. Other than that…Cobra replica or an Ultima?!
It's a very good auto box if that helps!b14 said:
