RE: Jensen Interceptor | The Brave Pill
Discussion
I had a Series 3 J Interceptor for 5 years in the mid 1980’s. It was my dream car when I was growing up and I loved every minute I owned/drove it. Fuel consumption was an issue; 10mpg around town, rising to 16mpg on a run. Effortless acceleration, saw off many a boy racing XR3 from the lights. The build quality was fantastic, although they could also suffer extensively from tin worm. The exhaust note was brilliant, in fact after I sold it, I was walking through the Staffordshire countryside on the way to the pub when I heard the familiar V8 burble, only to be surprised by a TVR Chimaera, which rekindled my interest in TVR’s leading to my current toy, a TVR T350C.
Thanks for the memories Pill, I have enjoyed the articles and will miss them.

I came close to buying a good, but not mint, Series III with wierd sheepskin seats back in the early 2000s for £5995. It had been featured in a Practical Classics magazine group test, and they mentioned at the end of the article that it was for sale in a garage about 15 miles from me.
Mrs D.R. and I discussed it and she wasn't against the idea but, in the end, the thought of 9mpg and the fact that we had no designated parking outside our house at the time meant that I reluctantly decided against it. Still bloody regret that decision!
And have we actually had a valid reason yet as to why this is the end of Brave Pill?

Sorry to read of the end of the Pill - that and Shed are always the two best features on here.
I've always loved Interceptors and was very jealous of a work colleague who bought an SP back in the mid-80s when they were dirt cheap. But he had to buy an old Renault 8 to get to and from work because he couldn't afford to commute in the Jensen!

somehow I like them and somehow I do not...
I like cause not that many of them and a very big V8
I do not like them because big and heavy?
I rather like a AC 428 Frua coupe, very rare and at some point 'cheap' I still think of those days you saw them for sale for not that much in the UK, almost unloved so it seemed, well, look at their prices now...
although those seem not so small either, can not remember ever seeing one, yeah maybe at a big classic dealer in the Netherlands, but rare they are.
Those have also a bit of Aston Martin in them

this week’s Brave Pill is the 226th, but also the last one.
Thanks for all the many installments of this column. It's an ideal time to bring this tradition to a close. Eventually most pills will be BEVs. And, therefore, not really the same sort of experience. "150,000 miles on the odometer and the factory-original brake pads might need changing. Did the previous owner replace the cabin air filter?"
Thank you Mike for the metaphoric weekly pill.Ive enjoyed taking every one. Some weeks it been like taking a multi Vitamin and others like swallowing a diaohrea tab to stop the sts. Good luck with all you do, I like many will be sorry to see this feature end unless that is PH can find a new pharmacist?
