Id say that Toyota UK are holding some emergency meetings this morning on powertrain solutions!

I wonder how many people will do a launch-edition front end conversion? The round headlights do look a lot better, in my view.

I suspect related to the double cab Hilux now costing a fortune to tax if run through a business.

Unless you buy it with no rear seats and a solid rear window, then its business as usual for the double cab pick ups.

Let's not ruin this thread, the dedicated one is bad enough!

A well specced commercial would certainly make a good case for itself against a double cab if you don't need the extra seats. I could see us considering them as a step up from the Duster and Outlander vans.

Except the powertrains as mooted are the 2.8 diesel 4 and then diesel hybrid a yr later for the UK. Except under the current UK legislation those powertrain combos will be hammered.
A lot of us who run Tonkas were very much eyeing up Hilux v Land Cruiser over the next yr or so.
As such I was only half joking when I said I suspect Toyota UK will be in some emergency powertrain discussions atm!

Australia trim levels seem to have been released . Also says they will get the Mild hybrid from day one. Hope they do the same in Europe.

This is likely the reason for the delay.

The initial plan was 2024 = new model

2025 = new model with hybrid engines

Plus the current model is still selling very well. They are everywhere!

We're not, but it gives a hint at colours/trims/options etc.

Any updates on specs, pricing and availability? I still got nothing from my local dealer. Anyone with any information?

A few weeks ago my dealer advised it would be online-only and hoped I'd select them as the point of delivery. I suspect with the October->March->who knows pace, we won't see the diesel and the first offering will be the diesel hybrid.

My dealer thought that the initial launch edition would be online only before the rest of the range is sold normally a bit later on.

I miss the days of this is the new car it’s available to order today with delivery in 8 weeks. All this teasing with little information about pricing etc 12 months before you can actually see one is becoming tedious. By the time it arrives it will be old news.

Landcruiser isn't traditionally a big seller in the UK, despite the aficionados. So Toyota are likely satisfying their large markets before they get around to the secondary ones.

I had my 20-plate in for a service a few weeks back and was chatting with the service receptionist - apparently they got about three per year in for work at that particular dealership, so yeah, compare that to the number of Defenders, Discoveries, RRS, X5s, Q7s etc you see - the LC is a tiny minority in the large SUV sector in the UK.
