Isn't this bad news for the current car and owners, seems "a lot" better than the old one.

TX.
Not really if it’s produced in the low numbers that are suggested.

Given that the new car is 50% more than the old car was, I 'd think residuals of the previous generation would be enhanced rather than diminished. The new car is doubtless better - but not by that much.

Only if you have to have an auto. Otherwise it’s about 10% more than the Mk1 and only if you want to track it. But you have to deduct 10% for the new dash smile

Mk1 residuals will be firming up now as many of those potential Mk2 buyers pick up a bargain fun car.

I'm on the waiting list, have been for ages. When Alison stopped they asked if I wasted to remain on it, I did.

Didn't expect 45k for one now though. That kills it.

The auto isn’t 50% more?

Just to remind people of pricing:

No because £30k was the basic version that 160 people purchased in the UK. Everyone else went with the more expensive offerings, convenience (199) or circuit (5,000). The circuit’s price has risen gently in the 3 years on sale and as of the latest price list is now £35,705 + £920 for Pearl white or red.

The entry level car is now 50% more than it was when these were first released.

It’s not clear what they are charging for paint, supposedly the forged wheels are extra in some markets, has that been clarified for the uk yet?

Regardless of how you look at it, it's no longer the bargain it originally was. It's in the same price bracket as something like a Type R Civic (which also is looking pricey) and Golf R and not that far off a Cayman. Different cars admittedly but all very capable.

It’s always been in the same price group as the civic and Golf.

2020 GR Yaris £30k - £34k
2020 civic Type R from £31k
2020 golf R from £34k

2024 Cayman is £52k add on things that are probably standard on all 3 of the above like I so fix, adaptive cruise, parking sensors, 2 zone climate and parking camera and you’re looking about £4-5k of options, Chuck in the auto box and it’s a £59k car.

I often think I can afford a Porsche but to spec it with everything I’m used to, I can’t and that’s before adding the wants.

I have always liked the GR Yaris but £45k is a lot of money, makes the older car seem a bargain.

Absolute fking wkstains.

I don't have the last one because I couldn't have one of the last ones, I don't have the required amount of limbs for a manual transmission. And because of that I can't have the new one I was really looking forward to? aholes.

Oh, of course I could have joined the wait list for a car two years ago before it was announced it would have an auto...
You should send Toyota an email explaining the situation. Refer them to your posts here about your dilemma. Seriously - you've got nothing to lose.

A rant on PH is perfectly adequate.

Some really boring mundane choices there surely you could have come up with better than that to make your point? I’d take the Yaris over all of them.

Not a bad car on that list!

Just personal preference on what you pick.

I love a good rant on PH.

The problem is I’m not a definite sale. I’d like one, but I don’t have money to burn and it is pretty expensive.

So I’d really like to be able to apply to have one, and when it came down to it, make the decision on whether or not I could afford it.

I’m comfortable ranting on PH, but if I escalated that and then didn’t buy one I’d feel like I’d have wasted everyone’s time.
