greta car but doesnt solve the poor engine design that has you thinking it will explode everytime you turn the key.. IMS anxiety is real with these things
If the IMSB really bothers you, spend £1000 or so on a modded bearing, then get on with enjoying life. Other weaknesses can also be dealt with, and the car will still owe you less than any other 911.

These guys have been modding 996s for a while, rather more convincingly to these eyes than Kalmar.

Can’t really see the point in these if I’m honest.

I quite like the 996 and it probably my favourite 911 generation. It's well proportioned and the interior has that old school germanic quality feel.
But this just looks odd. Wheels are too pinched within the arches.

I'm very interested in the wheel/tire combo on picture 9. Can anyone help?
I think the car is wearing 2 sets of wheels in the pics. Some show a very slim ice setup and the others - including pic 9 - these off road nobblies.

I don't recognise the wheels so they might not be from another Porsche. I have tried to bolt on 16 inch boxster wheels to a 996. The fronts foul on the brakes. The rears get over the brakes but foul on a suspension mount. So I would caution you that's it unlikely you'll get 16 inch wheels on a 996 without quite a few mods.

I've not given up on the idea of 16 inch rears but will need to try something else to fix the fouling problem. It's possible different wheels may have less material on their inside and not foul. The other option is different suspension arms with a slimmer lower profile joint.
