I remember the first units being offered with manual transmission, carbon ceramic brakes, and the carbon fiber seats. Are these optionals all gone now?

Oddly manual Guilias were available in Europe but not over here.

Europe also got an AWD option.

I cannot wait to own one of these in the next ten years. It's become a bit of a goal for me!

Magnificent car. Leave the M3 to the likes of Andrew Tate.

Easy theft seems to affect all(?) cars that are keyless and have radar cruise, so fit a Ghost immobiliser.

Good-to-know fun fact: since 2019 MY, the QV’s V6 has both port and direct injection to cure carbon buildup on the inlet valves. In turn, it is the only Ferrari-designed and -built engine so equipped. (If you own a Ferrari that has direct-injection, a world of pain awaits...)

And be sure to get an Alfa service plan that covers the 4th-year aux belt change, which is a time-consuming mega PITA:

Edited: amended date re. port/direct injection.

Well done, Matt. That is a really well written article. It's nice to read a review of a performance saloon that doesn't focus on the power and speed.

Maybe I’m a complete Luddite, but I’ll take the dated interior over touchscreen HVAC controls and haptic feedback touchpads on the steering wheel any day

I’d still go used V8 C63 rather than one of these but I’m so glad Alfa made them.
I think that's the problem these cars specifically, but maybe Alfa (and Jag to a degree) as a whole for the past decade or two have had.

Ze Germans are stiff competition on the new market, but basically dominate the nearly new and used markets which means that the majority of the people buying cars in the segment end up with the same consensus.

I think that's why a lot of people do admire Alfa owners because they acknowledge that they've made a lot of compromises and overlooked a lot of other vehicles to drive something that looks and/or drives as good as it does.

I'm with you on that.

I've just bought a new Abarth 695 Competizione and one of the many complaints about the car (mainly by people that don't own them) is that the interior hasn't changed since 2015.

So what, it works and parts are cheap because there are no constant updates.

Besides, you are supposed to be driving not watching telly laugh

Unique propositon in 2024. So lovely. Lets hope it's not a fluke and the next one will be ok, at least.

Seems like only yesterday that they were almost affordable (well to me) at mid £50k.

i wonder if the diff can be retrofitted to older models? and it is a shame that we have front licence plates here in the UK as it really ruins the look

I still love the Quadrifoglio.

As much as I hate the way the G80 M3 looks, I love the classic styling of the Alfa. It's definitely on my lottery list...

But is it really, when you consider the asking prices of things like the Polestar or the horrific looking e-5 series, let alone the M3, C63.

This will bring joy in a way that few other modern cars will.

The only new four door performance saloon I'd buy with my own money.
Amazing really, back in the day I never considered a new Alfa of any kind, never mind a very expensive one.

Much want. When they finally pulled their finger out and made something special, we always want more but Alfa really failed to capitalise......still.

Yeah when I see a Giulia driving about it does brighten my day a little - I do admire the owners decision. So easy to get the latest BMW instead - predictable, boring even, whereas you’ve got to be ever so slightly crazy to go Italian instead. An enthusiast I suppose. V8 trumps V6 for me, so I’d be AMG every time if buying used, but compared to the latest 2 litre C63 this Alfa is literally the last chance saloon frown

For me, this is the best-looking saloon car and they are just superb to drive , if I can add one thing it would be a Q4 option.
