I do love 80's turbos, 1st super car ride was in a F40, found the experience much more violent in an impressive way than my 2nd super car ride in a McLaren F1

Own a 1989 Porsche 930 which is proper hard to drive fast, smoothly but very rewarding on the few occasions I'm brave enough to try

2-car dream garage would be a F40 and SWB Quattro, I'd add my 930 to make it up to a 3-car dream garage

When they came out - 1st factory turbo, fuel injected - was a bit special.
Then the other manufacturers did it better, and by the end of the decade (factory) turbo bikes were gone for good.

Has any other technology come and gone so fast?

Wasn’t the Honda CX500 the ride of choice of the motorcycle courier? Hardly an exciting candidate for turbo power.

The last of the probably 30 R5 GT Turbos that I have owned since 91. I bought this “ tweaked “ Glazier white one for £1,300 quid from Nth London in 2011, I never used it on the road as it sat in my unit until I stupidly sold it in September 17 as a non runner for £52 hundred quid. It sold last summer for £18 grand…..

The F40 has more icon-ness, in it's window handles alone, compared to all those other cars combined.

Can’t belief how Crap that Esprit advert is. Shooting a car like that in front of that hideous Munster Hall type gaff, shows a total lack of thought by whoever chose this location…..

You mean Ketteringham Hall, the then home of Team Lotus with all its associated F1 shenanigans? That thoughtless location?

The F40 will always be the Daddy of 80's cars. Probably out of all the super / Hyper cars that have come since.

Mention the word 'Integral' in the first paragraph and then don't include the iconic Integrale anywhere in the article.

What a blunder!
