Having been in V12 Rollers and Bentleys, part of the experience is knowing there is a beautifully engineered ICE up front, that you have to strain to hear. You try to catch it out, it's like a game. Can't help thinking that an electric powertrain would feel like a bit of an anticlimax, a missing part of the whole experience
How many people who regularly travel in these sort of cars are thinking the same?ajap1979 said:

I agree. I see it as similar to preferring a finely crafted, exquisitely engineered mechanical watch, when a more accurate/reliable quartz, would, on the face of it be a more sensible choice. When cars reach this level, I think there's a greater desire for a more 'traditional' approach, and that includes the heart of the vehicle, the engine.
Well, that's my preference anyway, not that I'm likely ever to be finding out.
It looks lovely.
I'm surprised the first EV isn't a limousine. That will not be an accident; Rolls Royce clearly expected driver-owners to be keen on an EV rather than those who are chauffeured around, at least for now.
Perhaps RR are keen to iron out any foibles with the cars of the nouveau riche before introducing an EV limousine to its most conservative customers?
It would take me several lifetimes to save up for one but I think it looks spot on for the well-heeled younger customer.

Looks a bit like a Chrysler Crossfire at the back.
I’m not sure on it personally. Looks unresolved & disjointed to me.

Weird mixture of curves and sharp edges colliding with each other. Looks untidy and ill proportioned.
At the time I didn't know what it was but seeing it in the flesh, I thought it had a weird shape as well.

5.5m and 3 tonnes…
I know, impressive isn't it.Given that it probably saves 5 tons of CO2 coming out of the tailpipe every year.
That's what you meant yeah?
You know what would be impressive? Under 2 tonnes with an efficient petrol hybrid system, GPF and ethically sourced battery heavy metals.
Alas, it's just a ttmobile with a fancy name

Ah yes, the worst of both worlds. For people who are obsessed with 'the weight of things', is it because you can't see CO2 that it doesn't count?
