Glorious as this car would be, there is simply no way, chance, hope in hell that the mods over a standard S1 are worth £100k: none.

Goodness me £100K is bonkers.
My 111S with a very similar spec to this has cost less than £25K in total and that includes buying it for £12.5K in 2013, from Analogue Automotive funnily enough.
Yes OK it’s a lovely car but not sure I could justify the £75K delta.
Everything else is spot on the money, the driving experience is sublime, it still gets loads of positive attention, and they look great in black.
Oh and it’s the only car I have that can do donuts in the garage laugh

I'd be curious to see how it compares to the factory 250bhp Cup cars.

YES. For no other reason than it's ICE. In fact you could drop a diesel in it and I'd still buy it over any EV.

Lovely car but I'm wrong on the new Yaris, it's dirt cheap.

sure it's pricey, but compared to other restomods it's a bargain. and a drive you can't get anymore.
others saying they've done similar, I'm sure you're happy with your cars, but these are clean, ground up rebuilds that will (probably) look quite different in the flesh to yours? These are not alcoholics prices. (that was autocorrect!!)

Big empty garage. You need more cars.

Cost of this restomod upgrade is 4 times what I paid for my S1 brand new in 1999. My car has upgraded VVC engine, suspension and brake mods all installed for a fraction of this cost.

Lovely car, obviously spendy.

The key upgrades are often done as part of S1 ownership. This is just all of them at once with nut and bolt refresh thrown in.

Glad it retains the K, so right for this application.

Be a company

- Take beloved car that's over 30 years old
- Put some alcantara and carbon fibre on it and slap those halo LED headlights in it
- Brand it a "restomod"

Wait for the idiots with deep pockets to lap it up

errrrr how exactly are they repairing a banded aluminium chassis, something lotus has always claimed was not possible and has always resulted in an insurance right off?

I could get it if they were getting a new chassis made

the s1 was an amazing car of the time, was my first care, but so many better options for the money, give me an atom anyway

Maybe it was simply not economical to repair a chassis of a £20k car. The economics change somewhat in a £100k build.

So do you have £100k to spend on that car?

I'd take my old S1 Exige over that any day.

Even with its 380bhp engine it was well less than £45K including the new car cost. 837kg with fluids and half a tank.

My understanding is that the "repair" amounts to dealing with any corrosion. Which is due to the chassis reacting to the steel suspension components.

Hats off to you Sir, that is quite the nice collection.

I'd say Damian from the Car Guys would love a garage like that, all that space for his collection.
