Love these, despite the image I’d take one over a modern pimped up defender every time

love the power and looks, but...

not the weight, maybe cheaper (sure) buy a Suzuki Jimny weights only 1100 to 1200kg...
and make it a bit more cool.

The figures on the G350 surprised me.

Have they neutered it quite a bit? 180hp sounds a bit anemic.

I think to see these magnificent beasts in the flesh is something to behold.
They sound amazing and who cares who drives them, they're having great fun..
Personally i find them better looking in pics, in real life not so much. Sounds good though.

It's simply not an off-roader with those wheels and tyres and if fuel consumption is the biggest negative , then I'd say that's pretty good. Don't think owners worry much about that anyway. not my cup of tea but I do love the sound they make.

They have all the subtlety of a flying brick and the aerodynamics to match.

That said, I feel pretty much the same way about Range Rovers and similarly pumped up SUV's.

IRL They're, err, odd. Brutalist in a straightforward way, like a shipping container with wheels and windows chopped into the side; none of the quirky, innovative cues that made the Series/Defender iconic, just a box of pressed panels. But I guess that's what you get from someone like Steyr!

On the road the effect is unique and hard to ignore.

Just back from Berlin last week and these things are everywhere. Sound fantastic. I pity the haters.

But you calling drivers of these cars "wkers and wannabes" isn't a personal insult to them? Make it make sense please.

I’ve only ever seen these in London and driven by people soon to receive an Unexplained Wealth Order. Still, they’re magnificent beasts of engineering.
They do have that aura dont they ? Or is it just me ?

i.e. if you dug into the owners finances it would all be a bit murky, dont know why and I am sure there are plenty of completely legit owners but it has an air of "A little bit Werrr, a little bit weyyyy".

So its people who are actually a bit dodgy, or those who like to give off that vibe. They do often feature in films and on TV as the "baddies" car.

I really like these, and if I could afford to buy and run one, I definitely would.

I was just looking at the combined mpg figure on that, and it is only 25 mpg! So with these you will get through a fair bit of fuel whether you go diesel or petrol I reckon.

The 400d engine is really nice for a diesel though I think.

Despite being a long-standing Range Rover owner and obsessive, I do love these.

I’ve often wondered what one would look like in an actual colour and with windows that were see-through.

I had a G55 AMG for 5 years and it's the best car I've ever owned. I only sold it as it was LHD and my wife wouldn't drive it.

Running costs aren't that bad as any indie can fix anything on these, it's a truck after all.

Fuel cost north of running the USS Nimitz

but what a thing.

Eventually I will buy a G63, probably the previous generation with the 5.4 Turbo. Residuals are rock solid, I sold mine for more than I paid for it, and including all the bills I think I had free motoring.
Sounds like a great 5 years of motoring... smile

I bet it uses around half as much fuel in reality.

Always had a soft spot for these and they sound like thunder. That one for sale in the article though is tacky beyond belief. Who are on earth thought that was a good look and who will buy it.
