What a great idea, let’s get the workers at DVLA running pointless stats for our amusement then we he we can complain even more that they are not doing their normal day as quickly we’d like them to do,
Are you imagining some Victorian rotodex card system? Rather than a database that can be queried in seconds?

A database obviously but there are overheads.

Once a week couple of people sit down together and go through the requests and to assess each one.

Have we done this query before,
Yes we still have the code, just need to schedule it.

No, need someone to decide if it’s technically feasible, ie do we hold all the information that has been requested.

Now we need someone to spec out what needs to go into the query and someone to review.

You can write the code now and check results to make sure as expected.

You now need to schedule in the queries and run them, probably at a quiet time.

Someone to compose reply to the person who sent in request.

Someone to manage the process.

Alternatively, if people can be bothered DVLA provide some stastics as CSV files that you can download and import into Excel assuming they have the ability to do so.

Anyone with a BO55 plate on here care to explain their motivation for acquiring one ?
It's because they want everyone to know that they are the BOSS. Especially important that strangers, people they've never met, and people they will never meet know this. 'Cause they're the BOSS. The fact that people who see the plate have no idea who owns it or is driving the car never enters their heads.

It's some desire for recognition, based on owning a number plate. Say no more.
I've overheard conversations from working class types where they are often seriously impressed by cars with BO55 plates - "Yeah, he's got a decent BO55 number plate - BO55 SKY - because he installs Sky dishes. BO55 plates really are aspirational for some.

Yeah, you really know someone’s reached the top of the ladder when they have BO55 SKY as a plate hehe

There is an unwritten code for BO55 plates. They must go on a #premium car that is driven dangerously, or a VW Amarok, or if on a van it must be the RS Custom edition. biggrin

And any colour as long as it’s black. And that goes for the bodywork as well as the windows.

Engage Nerd Mode...

No it couldn't as the letter 'I' is not used in the UK due to its similarity to the number '1'.

I suppose Mustang drivers could argue that they've got a legit reason for having BO55 plates, but only if they own a genuine Boss model (unlikely in the UK).
Saw a ropey looking 5th gen convertible with a BO54 xxx plate driving like a moron on Sunday while walking the dog.

Do they ever talk about anything other than the drainage in the lower field?

ME 80 SSY will probably be available, though. I suspect that the type of person who'd buy it isn't going to be too concerned about grammar.

Saw a gorgeous AM Vanquish convertible near me at the weekend which was ruined with a BD55 BOB plate... at least get a proper BO55 plate if you're going to ruin it!

But what you can have, which has just come to mind as I had a car that had a registration started YE55, is have YE5 8OSS. Which seems to be on a grey Mercedes. And then pair it with TH3 8OSS, whenever that's released!! biglaugh

Speaking of walking the dog, someone round the corner from me has a BO55 plate and drives 400m down the road in it to then walk the dog.

I’ve seen a few around but all on black Range Rovers with tinted windows all round (I assume they meet Jacko’s stereotype of tribal tats and turkey teeth laugh ).

There was one parked up at Brands a few weeks back. Triple black Audi RS5 with a B055 plate. It's harder to find anything other combo that screams "knob" more.
