Didn;t realise you could make requests like this with the DVLA - is there a guide on how to do it? hehe

I suppose Mustang drivers could argue that they've got a legit reason for having BO55 plates, but only if they own a genuine Boss model (unlikely in the UK).

A venn diagram showing the overlap between recycling firm owners, range rover sport drivers and BO55 number plate owners would be very enlightening.

After reading this thread earlier I spotted one in the wild on the school run, BO55MCA on a BMW X5.

I might start a little book, like a train spotter.

I'll confess that FOI management is part of my role for a different public sector organisation, so I know all too well how the FOI process works and how much taxpayer money is wasted answering them mostly from right-wing people ironically.

Best thing to do is use https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/ it'll guide you through the process and you can make any request to any government organisation this way. The only thing to bear in mind is journalists use this website so don't be surprised if something you've requested makes the news somewhere.

Happy hunting!

I believe what you are describing there is known as a circle.

You should be able to add a note informing the enquirer how much their query has cost the tax payer.

Yep, open democracy can be a bit expensive but I guess it’s a little better than the alternatives.

Perhaps it could say something like "this has cost 0.0000001% of what the government has given away to its mates and donors this year".

I seem to remember some years ago that the number BO55 PUB adorned a Range Rover in Liverpool. It used to park outside The Grapes in Mathew Street, a pedestrian area. The gentleman driver looked well suited to running a difficult pub. I do not wish to imply that The Grapes was a difficult pub, at least not when I was there.

BO55 and B19 plates are a warning to other road users that the vehicle is likely to be driven by a complete tool.

It's a public service.
Just a couple of days ago I happened upon an old Audi estate wearing the plate B19 DOG laugh

I was doing the usual hypothetical car shopping the other day and I wondered where all the B055 plates end up
So my question is, how has the destination of BO55 plates affected your hypothetical choice of car?

What a great idea, let’s get the workers at DVLA running pointless stats for our amusement then we he we can complain even more that they are not doing their normal day as quickly we’d like them to do,

The fellas in the local cafe and petrol station seem to call all blokes ‘boss’.

Isn’t it just a figure of speech?

I like that! We could do an FOI request to find out how many person-hours are devoted to answering such requests. Then we could ask how they decided whether a request was pointless or not. There's a real rabbit-hole to explore here.

The use of ‘boss’ was a uniquely American way of avoiding the word “master,” which had quickly become associated with slavery by the mid-19th century.

I used to always answer the phone to our MD with "Wotcher, chief".

The I found out he hated it, so I started doing it in person too.

The he told me he hated it, so I stopped. We discussed (or, rather, I proposed) several alternatives, and settled on "hello", which I felt was a little dry.
