I have been driving for over 32 years, I can only think of one situation where I had to buy fuel at a motorway service station. Even then I didn't fill the tank, just enough to get me home.

My current car will do 500 miles to a tank, my previous one 700 miles, it doesn't take much planning to never have to fill up at a motorway station.

My old CEO saw it as a show of wealth to almost exclusively fill up at the motorway services near the office using the company fuel card.
Pfft! If he really wanted to exhibit profligate money burning prowess he'd go by train!
Ha, like it. They did start shunning their Range Rovers in favour of helicopters. Understandable for goodwood and Silverstone where driving can take hours, not so much 'nipping to a hotel for the weekend'
I was working for a company who were contracted to Frasers Group for a year and a half which meant a number of visits to their main warehouse in Shirebrook (same job that required me to drive up and down the M6 from Scotland every other week). Right in the middle of the main car park was Mike Ashley's helipad, I saw him coming and going in said helicopter on a couple of occasions. How the other half live etc...
