The MG badge has worked wonders for this car, nearly 200 posts in already, that should bode well for sales.
No matter what anybody thinks of Chinese cars, myself included, I think they know what they're doing.
Interesting times ahead.
The Chinese do know exactly how to build an affordable electric car, our job now is it follow in their footsteps so we can do our bit to tackle climate change. No matter what anybody thinks of Chinese cars, myself included, I think they know what they're doing.

Let's see, hmmm.
We need to steal raw materials from Tibet, enslave an oppressed minority, and then use massive government subsidies that are designed to destroy the competition and create a monopoly.
I reckon we could make a decent start by enslaving the gypsies, but I'm not sure which country we should invade and claim as our own?
Who needs democracy anyway?

Well, we've already invaded most of the nations on this planet.......Let's see, hmmm.

That's heavier than an Audi Q7, which handles like a boat.
Is the Q7's handling solely due to its weight, or does the high centre of gravity and general setup have something to do with it?I recently drove a Dongfeng Honda BEV, which was surprisingly quite pleasant to drive.
But it wasn't actually that heavy (~1.7 tonnes) given the counterweight bolted to the underside.
I wanted to hate this, I really did, but MG are doing an impressive job at the minute.
Yes, the doors are stupid and the real lights are a bit naff, but fundamentally its a quick roadster that will be (relatively) cheap to buy and cheap to run.
Tesla probably could have done this 2-3 years ago if they'd not spend so much time and effort building the Cybertruck.

Crazy that 1.7 t cars unladen with passengers and luggage is considered light!!
But i like the look of this MG do not like the price, and i am sure 95% of people who buy 2 seater sports cars do not worry about the weight, performance etc rather than how they look in the shop windows while stuck in traffic....

But hell, don't let me stop you banging on about China in general, the more discussion on that subject the better. Maybe, a new thread would be in order? Still, I'd say it's very doubtful that pointing out the non democratic practices of China will curtail sales of this 'MG' or possibly any other Chinese product.
What do you reckon?

I find it comical that an ‘MG’ is being compared to an upcoming Porsche.
Shows the rise of one brand and the slide of another.
Spec for spec, I’d bet the Porsche costs 75% more and is within 10% of the size and weight.
It shows nothing about their brand image at all. It's purely the fact that at £55k for a convertible "sports car", it's the same price as one of the definitive current sports cars, the Boxster, with which it shares a 2 seater convertible layout. And coincidentally Porsche are about to release a new electric one of those.Shows the rise of one brand and the slide of another.

I don't think anyone has said they'd take the MG over a Porsche either. Quite the opposite in fact.

I don't think the people buying (leasing) these would consider the Boxster. This is a car that will appeal to company users as an alternative to the usual salary sacrifice cars. The overall cost difference between one of these and a petrol Porsche with a similar list price will be huge.
